Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Rapid City

I would not recommend this location to anyone. When we first pulled up the open sign was already turned off but their was still 35 minutes till close. Once we confirmed that they were open my friend and I ordered some food and smoothies separately, we were the only ones in the store. If you’re paying with a credit card it prompts you to leave a tip. For a smoothie place that seemed odd to me. Their was only one guy making the food and he was moving excessively slow. It must have been his first day or something because he kept checking the recipe sheets every time he added anything onto a sandwich or wrap. After 10 minutes my friend received her hummus veggie wrap first although I had ordered before her. While waiting for mine she started to eat and found their to be no hummus in the hummus wrap but their was a lot of salsa. The ingredients on the board do not state salsa being in the wrap. A hummus wrap without hummus doesn’t taste very good. After 15+ minutes my food was ready but ended up being cold inside even thought it was a warm sandwich. This location needs to train their staff better or hire more.

Not the place for fresh smoothies. Tried this place for the first time and it will be my last time. I ordered the grilled cheese and Chia Boost smoothie (I believe that is what it was called) with peanut butter. The grilled cheese was super soggy and i thought there was supposed to be a few different cheeses on it but there was one slice of cheese. The smoothie, has a terrible chalky taste to it. I didn’t realize they use powders and not fresh or at least frozen ingredients. My smoothie is rather disgusting and other than a very chalky coconut flavor, I cannot make out any other flavor in it. If you are looking for a fresh, blended smoothie, this is not the place. I have pretty good hearing but between masks and the blenders, the music was too loud and I had a hard time hearing the cashier which defeated the purpose of keeping at a distance because I couldn’t hear him. I really love the drinks and food here, but unfortunately I have had a bad experience almost every time I’ve come here. The girls, more often then not, have a nasty attitude, especially if you come in a few hours before they close. Due to this, I decided to order through door dash to avoid the hassle, but unfortunately when I got my smoothie it was literally nothing but huge ice chunks. I ATE half of my smoothie before just throwing it away. I work in food service so I understand it can be frustrating after a long day to make drinks an hour before you close, however it is still your job. I also work in a business where we make smoothies and other blended drinks, & the consistency of my smoothie was absolutely unacceptable. There is no way it wasn’t intentional.
