Went for the first time because I’m a tourist visiting Red River. Some local patron “a customer” started talking to me out of the blue. I was minding my own business watching the football game keep in mind and he started talking to me. As our conversation progressed he brought up politics. A bunch of pro Trump rhetoric basically and some light democrat bashing. I myself don’t really follow politics and would be a very neutral person on these matters. I was just trying to humor the guy act like I was interested it what he was saying but in reality I could care less either way. THERE WAS NOBODY AROUND US THAT COULD HEAR EVEN REMOTELY WHAT THE GUY WAS TELLING ME! The only person that could hear us was the big overweight white lady bartender when she came to our area to mix a drink. She got angry and told us that we couldn’t be talking about these subjects and we were gonna get kicked out if we continued. I had nothing to do with it! This old guy started talking to me! And he was not being loud or obnoxious. He left and I told her that I had nothing to do with it. She said she could hear us and that politics and religion were not allowed to be talked about at the bar. I did not see a sign posted at the bar that nobody could talk about politics and religion at the bar. This lady was extremely rude and had absolutely no right to do what she did. I wouldn’t recommend this place to...
Read moreI had the Hatch Green Chile Cheeseburger. The 1/2 lb. patty had very good flavor and was cooked medium-well. Just a little juicy, but the basic bun wasn't toasted very well, so it got a little mushy on the bottom. The green chile was medium-hot heat and very flavorful. The cheese choices were American, Colby/Jack, Pepperjack, or Swiss. I got the American cheese, and it was melted very well. High quality pickle slices, lettuce, tomato, white onion slices were on the side. The hand cut fries were the shoestring type and were delicious. Packets of condiments were included. I had to order at the bar, where only 1 person was working. Because of that, service was pretty slow, but she did a great job and was very nice. The online menu needs to be updated, as the burger I had is listed at $15, but it's $18 at the restaurant. It also states $1 extra for cheese or green chile, but they actually charge $2 extra.
My wife ordered chicken wings with garlic parmesan. The wings were good, but the sauce cam in a pre-packaged cup. She also order a side of fries, and they must have used a huge potato because they were served in a very large basket.
There were some nice beers on the menu, but were out of all 3 of my choices. The beer list also listed some that they no...
Read moreFirst time in Red River for me. Came to celebrate a friends 50th birthday. Since we were walking around just checking things out, my wife was carrying a refillable water bottle. The kind that comes with the little shaker ball for mixing etc. The only thing in the bottle was water. As we walked in the saloon, my wife was told (rudely) she couldn’t bring the water bottle in. She stated it was only water and was told (rudely again) it wasn’t allowed in. Ok… We stepped back out and I suggested we just put the bottle on the beam above the door. The beam had more than enough room to accommodate the water bottle. The door person told us (rudely) that we couldn’t put the water bottle up there because it might fall off. Common sense dictates that there was no way the bottle was ever going to fall off. Needless to say, we left and won’t be back. I know we’re just New Mexico locals but the saloon missed out on serving 7 people who just wanted a nice cold beer or two. I figure with a couple or three each plus tip that’s over $100 easy. Oh well, guess I’ll never see the inside of the saloon and doesn’t matter. RRBC accommodated us just fine and the drinks and food was awesome. Oh, by the way, we spent...
