Red Wing Barrel House — Restaurant in Red Wing

My husband and I were in Red Wing for a wedding, unfortunately we arrived a day late. 😕 We decided to make the best of it, since we drove five hours to get there, and take in the town a bit. That's when we discovered this Beautiful old bar with a good vibe. We stopped by for a late lunch and each had one of their delicious hot dogs. The Coney was amazing! My husband had the Chicago and he loved it as well! We took a pizza back to our motel room to enjoy later and I've never had such a great to go pizza! It was a Philly steak pizza served with au jus for dipping. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and conversations with the bartenders. They were very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. We spent a weekend in Red Wing, and happened upon this place after a stressful experience trying to leave TI Casino after a concert. We wanted to enjoy a drink, but the bar at the St. James, where we stayed, and a block from the Barrel House, closed at midnight. We enjoyed ourselves so much, that we returned on Saturday to listen to the band. Attentive bartenders, great vibe, and the owners' rescue dog circling the bar from time to time made for a wonderful way to end two nights in Red Wing. We plan a return...

Decent atmosphere. Friendly bartender. It’s a bit dark inside, but it’s nice once you adjust to the lighting. I had the special Old Fashioned, it was a decent cocktail, but a little too sweet for me and a little small as well. Now I’m not looking for a rocks glass topped off with whiskey at the bar, but a bit more would have helped justify the cost.
