My husband and I were in town for his birthday and a late Valentines Day celebration and stayed at St. James Hotel. We decided to stop into Red Wing Cafe on our way out of town for breakfast. Well... Once we got seated, the waitress came over and took our drink orders, as well as our food order. We got our drinks and waited for our food to arrive. 30 minutes went by, and our food hadn't been out. As we sat there at the table, we really started getting hungry and started to wonder where our food was. As we sat there at the table, we saw groups/families come in, get seated, order their drinks as well as meals, receive their meals, eat, and then pay and leave. My husband's coffee was refilled multiple times (at least 5 times), and we still hadn't gotten our food. After waiting over an hour for our meal (1 hour 12min to be exact), both my husband and myself was VERY antsy and I was angry (as expected) the waitress had finally "realized" we hadn't gotten our meals at all. I'm sorry, but there was NO excuse for waiting over an hour for our meals when others who had showed up after us had gotten their meals, ate, paid their bill, and left. After waiting ANOTHER 20 minutes, we FINALLY got our meal. The waitress wanted to give us a free cheese cake either for dessert or to go, but I was HIGHLY upset at that point, all I wanted to do was eat my meal and just get the hell out of dodge! The food was absolutely amazing, however waiting over an hour and 20 minutes to eat breakfast while others ordered dinner/lunch menus was more than upsetting. Honestly, the next time we are in Red Wing, we WILL NOT be stopping by Red Wong Cafe for breakfast, lunch, OR dinner! I don't care how great the food is; service means everything to a paying patron. If I could give zero stars, I would've, unfortunately, I have to give at...
Read moreHate to do this but…had a horrible experience here. We were seated within 10 minutes and then waited an hour for our food to arrive. We saw other tables getting their food before us when they had arrived after. I had the breakfast burrito which was fine. My home fries didn’t have any seasoning or look fried. The over easy eggs came well done and when they were replaced as requested, they had egg shells in them and were underdone. The pancakes were perfect. The women’s bathroom was awful. It was so dark you could barely see yourself in the mirror and the walls were covered in old adhesive from past soap dispensers and such. The overall lighting in the cafe was bad. Dim track lighting and decor made the atmosphere unattractive. To add insult to injury the electronic tipping options BEGAN at 22%. Whenever a business does that it is just shady. You’re trying to take advantage of people by putting them on the spot. Our server was the only bright spot in this place and I gave her a custom tip of 20%. We were in town for a girls wknd and every other establishment we visited was wonderful. This was a bad...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible. The gravy tasted very weird, very thin cut slices of Turkey and for the price you pay I could've bought bigger portions at Walmart (it was basically sandwich thin meat). My partner and I also got food poisoning from there and I'm still suffering with it now and that was the only new thing we'd ate this entire week! We also overheard the manager 'Diamond' openly admit she essentially steals tips from other servers, if you don't specifically say which server you wish the tip to go to when checking out (as in your actual server of YOUR table) she'll take the tip for herself! I have NEVER in my life heard of tips being distributed this way and is AWFUL practice at an establishment! Would not recommend and if you do go PLEASE specify you want the tip to go to YOUR actual server, one poor server made $5 in 4 hours on the same shift as her when she had made wayyyy over that through taking the others tables and...
