LEAVE THE SCREAMING CUSTOMERS AND DINING ROOM MMA MATCHES TO THE GOLDEN ARCHES: Here, everyone's too busy to battle A very popular national burger chain with massive daily crowds at all its locations, this Redding property is no exception. Be prepared for frequent standing-room-only situations throughout the day and wait times in excess of fifteen minutes inside the packed lobby during the lunch hour. The frenzied staff work harder and move faster than nearly any business in town. There's a reason for this. INO do exactly three things, and they do them consistently well each and every time: Burgers, fries and shakes—real easy peasy...I dunno, though. Would it kill them to throw in some onion rings or something? Just sprayin'. Still, this establishment's nationwide popularity is partly due to the company's longstanding policy of welcoming custom orders—in particular the special requests and “secret” menu hacks that all the silly youngsters think they're being so clever asking for. (Yeah, real original, snot-noses. As if everyone doesn't know about Animal Style by now. Way to pull a fast one! lol) Why people insist on trying to re-invent the wheel I'll never understand. Jeez. Having said that being said which I just now said, you can always count on a decent burger meal here that won't break your budget. It's our go-to place when we're looking for nothing more than tasty, cheap and (relatively) fast comfy food that's markedly better in quality than the other big chains for sure. Can't beat it. BTW, this review applies to both the Dana Drive and new Churn Creek eateries, and pretty much to every other property from this chain we've ever eaten at—very reliable, predictable and uncomplicated, all. Count on it. So until a Fatburger finally comes to town and gives them a run for their money, the local In 'N Out's will have to suffice. But hold the...
Read moreBeing from Oregon, I've heard how awesome In-n-Out is supposed to be. EVERYONE raved about how great the food is, blah, blah, blah. So, when the opportunity presented itself on the afternoon of May 1, 2018, my sister and I, who happened to have been passing through on our way back to Oregon from San Francisco, stopped off at this location.
I ordered a double-double, fries and a neopolitan shake, and my sister ordered a hamburger, fries and a vanilla shake. Both of our burgers with crusted with salt (to the point where we could feel and hear it crunch in our mouths), the fries looked and tasted like they had just been thawed on a counter before being put on our trays, and the shakes were nauseating at best, given that they both tasted like chemicals; not even McDonald's shakes are this bad.
I worked in fast food (Burger King) for about 2 years and my sister was a manager at McDonald's (in the '80s) for a couple of years, so we both know how the food should've turned out. My sister did complain to the manager, which is something she very rarely does, and the manager was apologetic.
I, on the other hand, decided to leave a review instead. Given the rating system, a single star is still WAY too high of praise for this restaurant. It is quite literally the worst fast food I have ever had in all my life. I had to eat at both McDonald's and Carl's Jr to get the taste of an actual burger back in my memory, given how sick to my stomach In-N-Out made me.
I highly recommend McDonald's in all their disgustingness over In-N-Out, and I'm going to call-out any and all lists that even bother to put them on as a "good place to eat." Save your money and go to Taco Bell if you want cheap food, or if you want an actual good burger, go to Five Guys where the food is actually...
Read moreSo I'm going to start this by saying I'm biased because this is my favorite hamburger fast food joint so it will probably always get a 5 star review from me. I dropped in here a Monday around 1pm, and I hit a sweet spot in a rush: no one in front of me at the register, no one behind me to rush my decision making. Although I already knew what I wanted to order so not much worry for me on that front but there were others with me that usually take a little longer. The meals deals are totally worth it! And they are willing to accommodate a lot of ridiculous order requests. My usual go to? A double double with extra sauce and grilled onions, a chocolate shake, and depending on my hunger level either an animal fry or a cheeseburger and regular fry.
This experience wasn't too bad. Food definitely took longer than a drive thru experience. It also came to me a bit more sloppily prepared. However it was all super fresh, both off the grill and in terms of flavor / quality. I ordered my larger meal this time and ate a couple awesome tiny peppers along with the cheeseburger.
And just to add a little icing to my cake on the trip, our cashier hooked it up with some awesome In N Out stickers...
