Visited The Overland for lunch to celebrate a special birthday. Hoping for an exceptional experience, I was prepared to love this spot. Upon arriving we were promptly seated outdoors in the patio area. It was a cool day, but we had jackets so it wasn't an issue. The music was exceptionally loud, despite us being the only patrons at the time, and it made it difficult to talk. Compile that with a train passing by 20 feet away every 20 minutes and hanging out in the patio was difficult for a relaxing, afternoon lunch. Unfortunately, the music in the lounge was even louder. We started by ordering some mocktails and an Arnold Palmer and proceeded to wait 25 minutes for drinks to be delivered. We then ordered from the very limited lunch menu and proceeded to wait 50 minutes for our food to arrive. The drinks were fine, but overpriced. The food was tasty, but came out cold, despite it including a soup and a toasted sandwich. I'm going to reiterate that when we walked into the space, we were the ONLY patrons, it was NOT busy and it was NOT a typical busy meal/lounge time (mid-afternoon on a weekday). The service was kind, but lacking, and the food experience was just a total miss. Would I come back? Maybe for a drink, and only if I was sitting AT the bar to ensure service was provided in a timely manner. I would likely not come back for food, although the options were interesting and I can see how if served hot would be tasty. Overall, and expensive experience I'm not sure I'll be able to recommend to others, which is a bummer, as the space itself is beautiful.

A cozy upscale bar with table seating inside as well as outside and just beyond the bar is a collection of records where you can listen to some smooth jazz or hold school hip hop played by the Dj where the music is not too loud but just the right amount of volume, so you don't have to speak over the music. The service is top notch as the waiters acknowledge your presence immediately and will help get you seated as well as a drink in hand. I enjoy how before you order anything they will serve you a glass of water so you can at least hydrate as you relax and decide what you want. They have an interesting assortment of hors d'oeuvres to order from and it seems that the menu is always evolving as to keep the experience fresh and new. Their drinks are like nothing you will experience anywhere else as they are made with passion, love and care unlike your normal bar where you can take your time and relax to enjoy the drink verses gulping it down like a heathen. The Overland is sure to be a place to experience whether you are looking for a nice retreat, an escape if you will, a place to enjoy with some friends or solo. where you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic new bar in Redlands. Perfectly-perfectly-perfectly situated right next to the train depot downtown. They have a bit of a fixed drink menu, with drinks partially pre-mixed and on tap. Really cool concept that keeps everything ready to go. Food menu is limited, and portions are a little bit small. Not quite small plate, but not quite entree. Staff are all amazingly nice and knowledgeable, but timing was off a bit. There was about 20 minute wait between serving different people in our party. We survived the trauma! They have a happy hour menu all day Monday, and from 4:00 to 6:00 Tuesday through Friday. Basically $2 off most items which is a nice way to run a happy hour. Simple and straightforward. Outdoor patio seating is amazing when the weather is right. But inside is where it's really magic. Just a perfect space decorated beautifully and one of the most beautiful bars I've ever seen. Clean upscale bathrooms as well. It's really a great place!
