What a pleasant surprise! Though there are a few options in Redmond, we were close to giving up on finding true Farm to Table community base cuisine. In a world of purveyors that claim to be organic, all natural, farm to table, many have fallen short and have hijacked the real meaning and intent behind these words. This place talks the talk and walks the walk. I'm hesitant to write this review out of a selfish desire to keep it secret, but that goes against the ethos of prompting and connecting community to the bounty of regionally sourced, seasonal product.
Our first visit experience was exceptional. The staff is friendly, engaging, very attentive, and enthusiastically carry forward the vision of owners Chris and Emma. We started our adventure with the apples & beets salad, pork belly appetizer, and finished with the main courses of Chicken & Gnudi and Grits. Everything was very flavorful, cooked to perfection and the presentation expressed the desire to showcase the wares of their suppliers. Have to say, if you are looking for traditional southern style Collard Greens that are done right, this place hits the mark. They truly rivaled those we have experienced in the eastern deep south.
Having been on the periphery of the food service industry for a number of years, one of us more than the other, we observed a kitchen that was very efficiently run with a great deal of cooperation and oversight of the end product. Testimony to the desire to serve and showcase quality food.
Overall, a thumbs up on their mission to connect those that grow the food with the community they live in. We enjoyed ourselves so much we immediately booked a reservation for Sunday Brunch. Looking forward to experiencing this menu option.
As with all reviews, just a couple constructive comments. We found the coffee a little weak, but we tend to enjoy a more robust brew. The Grits were a little too creamy for my taste, but very flavorful and if I have a hackering for gits in the future, a visit to Feast will be on the top of my list. As for the Creme Brulee, may I suggest using a deeper ramekin style plating.
Chris and Emma - You are doing it right. I see great success in your future. Congratulations on taking the...
Read moreThis used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Central Oregon, but lately, it's gotten to be not the best. The smash burger looked/tasted like it had a metal bowl thrown on top of it, so it would steam instead of fry. The beef looked like it was turkey or pork due to how light it was, and it wasn't the best tasting either. The texture was very odd, and the meat was sweet. The fries taste like they have more sugar on them than McDonald's now, too, which is very disappointing. The past 3 times I've been, it's gotten slightly worse each time. Not sure if they have a new chef or what. We tried talking to the owner and were told "nothing has changed" and that it's just us, but my family are regulars and I had them taste the meat without saying anything about it and they all had the same feedback. It was a bit disappointing after trying to ask if the recipe or cooking method has changed to get the cold shoulder from the servers and owner. We usually really enjoy chatting with the owner, but it seemed feelings got hurt with our asking if the meat was mixed with pork or something for it to taste so different. We asked about it when we had asked for the check and some boxes and then were left sitting there for a while without the check or boxes to the point where it began to feel...
