Five stars & five solid tail-wags!
When traveling for weeks on end, SCP Redmond feels like trading asphalt fatigue for a warm hug. Check-in was instant kindness: a friendly “welcome-drink” token slid across reclaimed-wood counters (non-alcoholic options too!!!) and a goody bag for Bea (treats, bowl, waste bags) that made her whole body wiggle and spin! Their dog policy is refreshingly straightforward; two pups allowed, modest fee, no sizeist gate-keeping...so we rolled/pranced right into our room without hassle!
We booked the Queen Suite and I’m convinced the design team moonlights as mind-readers. A roomy ~300 sq ft layout gave us space to sprawl; minimalist furnishings in earthy tones whispered “exhale.” A cloud-soft queen bed, 55" HDTV, mini-fridge, and a gloriously tiled walk-in shower hit every comfort note — yet the vibe stayed uncluttered and meditative. Downtown Redmond is outside the front door, parking is free, Wi-Fi is speedy, and rates felt almost too generous for the sanctuary they offer.
Even if you never left the hotel you’d be nourished: Provisions Market’s espresso bowls you over at sunrise, Terra Kitchen’s plant-forward plates ground the evening, and The Rooftop’s garden patio pours craft cocktails beneath the alpenglow of the Three Sisters and Black Butte. It’s the only rooftop in town, and the 360-degree Cascade panorama makes every sip taste like "ahhh, vacation."
Don’t skip the Wayfarer Club tucked just off the lobby—an Oregon-explorer tavern meets cozy library. Leather-soft chairs, shelves of adventure books, and a menu of tavern-style small plates + signature cocktails make it equal parts refuge and launch-pad for the planning of a Smith Rock mission.
Laptop days? Duck into Evergreen Ave Collaborative—SCP’s wellness-centric cowork loft—and watch productivity sprout. Sun-splashed hot desks, ergonomic sit-stand setups, private call booths, and screaming-fast Wi-Fi make work feel weightless. From memberships passes to dedicated desks with 24/7 key-card access, and the perks run deep: bottomless Stumptown, a rotating tap, yoga mats for stretch breaks, and plenty of options to keep cortisol down. It’s Redmond’s first true cowork hub, rooted in the same Soul-Community-Planet ethos—so every keystroke plants a tree somewhere. Bea curled up at my feet while I breezed through a week’s to-dos in an afternoon.
A standing ovation for the entire SCP family—front-desk legends who greet you like they’ve been saving that smile all day, housekeeping heroes who leave the suite feeling freshly saged, management that actually walks the “Soul-Community-Planet” talk, and ownership whose culture turns sustainability from buzzword to lived heartbeat. Every handshake, freshly fluffed pillow, and genuine check-in (“How’s Bea doing today?!💓”) made it clear this crew isn’t just running a hotel—they’re curating a haven.
SCP’s “Every Stay Does Good” promise—tree-planting, youth mental-health support, zero-plastic ethos—turned our night’s rest into quiet activism, and that resonates with me deeply.
When we rolled out earlier than check-out, Beatrice (aka Bea) my pup tugged the leash back toward the lobby, lobbying for another night. I get it. This place doesn’t just provide a bed; it cultivates belonging. If you’re chasing soul, community, and planet in equal measure—stop looking. You’ve found home...now book it, feel it for yourself, and your overall...
Read moreWhat I liked about this hotel is for sure the vibe , that feeling of being at home and being seen as a person rather that just a place where you sleep. I did not try their restaurant nor the bar but the market that they have is convenient and most of the things are reasonably priced. I truly appreciate the fact that they offer water and coffee and these days I don't give it for granted , indeed I found myself in other hotels where they just put a bottle of water in the room and charge you 6 dollars for it in case you drink it (which is ridiculous). Even if they don't provide the rooms with a coffee maker they were happy to provide a mug of hot water for my tea as I don't drink coffee (the mugs could use a good scrub as they were often stained by previous beverages) . There is a cool entrance with sofas and firepits and a chess table, there is also a little room to do board games and a bigger one with a few big TV, there is a gym and a roof top. They included 10 $ each day in complementary food / drinks from the market which was great and they even gave us a welcome beer included. I love how they kept the beautiful hardwood floor but I wonder if there is some way to restore them more nailed down to the floor and less squeaky. I loved finding in the room a big tv, a sound machine and a mini fridge. I also loved how nice and welcoming everybody was. I did not like a few things worth mentioning. The blackout curtains are too small and don't do a good job at blocking the lights so guess who had to wake up at 6 every morning because the baby was not sleeping with so much light? There is not a sound proof between the ceiling and the floor above so you will hear every step they take. They put a sound proof panel by the window but you can still hear loud vyecols from the busy street and from the corridor. I found the mattress uncomfortable, especially the sofa bed, which was also not including pillows the first night. At the second night we requested them and they managed to find a couple even if they mentioned a "shortage of pillows" which was a bit weird as I never experienced not having pillows for a bed. They charge a fee for the dogs so it would be nice to find in the room a couple of bowls to use and some poop bags. While all of the spaces are very cool and stylish with their industrial but earthy atmosphere , the corridors that take to the room are very cold and reminded me of one of these hospitals you see in horror films and with a weird smell from the carpet. The room looked beautiful while the bathroom choice of tiles was way too busy in my opinion. I think that for the high price it costs it should include to have the room cleaned every day. I understand and respect the concept of being cautious and trying not to change the towels every day but it would be nice to go back to the room and find the beds done and the little trash...
Read moreWe live local and decided to stay here for a night, just to check it out and possibly reccomend to friends and family coming to visit. We stay at a lot of hotels and was excited to see what they've done with this place since it was all over the news and such for this BIG renovation. Well, to say the least, we were not impressed. It was like they were trying to keep the old style "feel" but failed miserably. Ya gotta go one way or the other. Its as if they didnt want to spend the money to upgare everything, so they just added some new stuff to an old building. The floors were creaking with every step. The ambience was not like a hotel at all. The check in counter was more like where youd order a coffee of a sandwich. The rooftop bar was pretty amazing, but again, very new design when trying to stay old time. It just felt like it wasnt part of the hotel. The beds were VERY comfortable, but thats personal preferences. When we first stepped into the room, there was an odd smell and we just chalked it up to being new. But later after leaving, then returning again, we realised that it smelled like a public restroom. And no, i dont think it was the bathroom. It was just the room itself. We had to light candles to help. The sofa in the room was very uncomfortable and the room layout was odd. The hvac was super loud and went from hot to cold rapidly. The room temp never was consistant. In the morning, they were cleaning the room abaove us and was VERY loud. We shouldnt have heard that much from floor to floor. It just did not feal like a "nice new" hotel. The news reported a $7 million renovation and im not sure where all that money went, but it was defenatly not spent on this hotel. Everything just seemed cheap like some one was penny pinching. And for a staple hotel in our small city, thats just not acceptable to me. I would only stay again for the comfort of the bed, and the convenience of the location. I wouldnt reccomend to some one unless they just needed to crash some where. I would relate it to more of a hostel...
