Lupita's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Redondo Beach

Rarely do I give 5☆'s to a small restaurant...but this one deserves it! Authentic Mexican quisine...prepared with the same care as everything is done in the restaurant. Firstly, the food is absolutely "spot on." Every bite of random choices (including taco Tuesday) is what drives Mexican cuisine's rating as "top's in the world." This chef knows what he's doing! He is driven to perfection...and nails it. You are served by people who are happy to be there serving you. Attentive! The ambiance is cozy warmth...Mexican style. Vibrant tile tables...carved wood chairs, leather covered seating lend to the atmosphere. Charming! We watched the start of the World Series on one of their multi-placed large screens. The Owner/Host Enrique is present to see everything is run to perfection. He started as a dishwasher, new to this Country...and worked his way up to Ownership. He knows his stuff and you experience it. On my top...

Chips were warm but tasted semi-stale. The "spicy" salsa tasted like an old can of enchilada sauce with some red pepper mixed in. Cadillac margarita was the most sour I've ever had even after pouring in the shot of Grand Marnier. I got the Lupita chicken chimichanga. It was served hot and fresh and pretty good size. Nothing special in terms of seasoning of the chicken so when I ran out of the accompanying sour cream and guacamole I lost interest. One waitress to serve the entire restaurant on Thursday at dinnertime. She gets an "A" for effort. Management gets an "F". This is the first Mexican restaurant I've eaten at that made me wish I had eaten at Taco...

DECIDED TO FOLLOW THE TRADITION ON THIS VERY SPECIAL DAY OF CELEBRATION IN THE MEXICAN CULTURE.... A FRIEND & I SPLIT A BEAN AND CHEESE BURRITO W/LETTUCE & GREEN SAUCE ON TOP.. (HER PICK).. IT WAS A GOOD BURRITO .. MUY GRANDE .. THEN WE EACH HAD A MICHELADA, WHICH COMES IN A HUGE MUG..22oz THE GRAND TOTAL FOR; THE BURRITO & DOS MICHELADAS.. $40 THE DRINKS $12.50/ea & the burro was $10 ... OVERALL IT WAS GOOD... THEY CLOSE AT 9 or 10pm, BUT WE'RE LOCAL & THEY DIDN'T RUSH US OUT... WE FINISHED UP OUR DRINKS & SAT THERE TILL ABOUT 11PM... VERY SWEET PEOPLE...
