A Quintessentially Sublime Culinary Experience at Woodside Deli
Woodside Deli stands as a gastronomic haven, a paragon of culinary artistry that leaves one speechless in its reverent presence. Upon entering its welcoming doors, I was greeted with an unparalleled fusion of flavor, service, and ambiance—a true epicurean sanctuary.
The Chicken Sandwich: A Masterpiece of Poultry Perfection Let us begin with the chicken sandwich, which serves as the centerpiece of this transcendental dining experience. The chicken, succulent, tender, and impossibly juicy, exudes a delicate crispness on the exterior, a perfect golden-brown crust that suggests the touch of a masterful fryer, although the bread wasn't my favorite. Yet it is the interior that truly elevates this creation—infused with a delicate balance of spices so harmonious that it feels as if alchemical magic were employed.
The Atmosphere: An Inviting Harmony of Comfort and Sophistication Beyond the culinary delights, the atmosphere at Woodside Deli is equally captivating. Upon entering, one is immediately embraced by an ambiance that marries rustic warmth with contemporary refinement. The décor, with its wooden beams and curated local art, creates a timeless, inviting environment. Soft lighting casts a gentle glow, adding to the sense of intimacy and sophistication. There is a quiet reverence in the air—an ambiance that invites one to pause, relax, and indulge in the pleasures of the moment.
Despite the bustling nature of the deli, a serene tranquility permeates the space, making it feel like a retreat from the outside world. This atmosphere is not just a backdrop but an integral part of the experience, allowing diners to fully immerse themselves in the joy of the meal.
The Location: A Tranquil Oasis Woodside Deli occupies a location that strikes a perfect balance between accessibility and seclusion. Situated near a bustling shopping center, it is removed enough from the noise of urban life to offer a peaceful oasis, yet close enough to remain connected to the community’s heart. Its location provides a quiet refuge from the frenetic pace of daily life, a reminder of the importance of finding peace amidst the storm.
The Market with Spaghetti: A Celebration of Freshness In addition to the iconic chicken sandwich, I had the pleasure of sampling the market with spaghetti, a dish that pays homage to the farm-to-table ethos while embracing the simplicity of rustic Italian tradition. The spaghetti became an extremely extravagant home cooked meal. Even though it was bought packaged, the quality exceeds that of some restaurant cooked spaghetti.
Conclusion: A Monument to Culinary Excellence In conclusion, Woodside Deli is far more than a place to eat; it is a journey of flavor and atmosphere that elevates dining to an art form. The chicken sandwich, a paragon of poultry perfection, exemplifies the deli’s commitment to excellence, while the market with spaghetti showcases the potential of fresh ingredients in creating something truly...
Read moreI ordered specifically rare roast beef on slice sour dough Did not get either. Claimed they were out Of sliced sourdough so they just went ahead and Substituted a roll without communicating to me The roast beef was not the roast beef in the display case that was rare. Was told they slice their meat early in the morning.. Again they just substituted without communication. I felt that paying $11 for a sandwich I would least get what I ordered Had not been here in over 35 years will not go again
Response from the owner Gary, Yes ... we run out of certain breads every so often. That should have been communicated, and I'm sorry that it wasn't. As for the sliced meats, if we don't pre-slice our most popular meats, each order would take much longer (hello $20 sandwich!). With 57 meat options, some ineffeciency is built-in. We're going to try to reduce that as best we can in order to serve our many fans. Thanks for coming in. Maybe we'll see you in another 35 years. Take care. -Kyle V., Owner
My reply: So you don't fully seem to understand. Your staff should have let me know my order could not be fulfilled as requested. Either the order taker or most likely the guy making my sandwich. The reason I ordered the roast beef because I saw the rare roast beef in your case. If I had not seen it I would not have ordered it. I understand the need to pre-slice meat. Most people do no care if their roast beef is rare. I do so they could have sliced some for my sandwich.
The reason I haven't been in your store for 35 years is I live in the south bay. Back then I used to bowl at Mels with my company team. ^ months ago I started going to church in down town Redwood City. So I drive down Woodside Road. I had good memories of buying sandwiches back then. So yesterday I decided to stop on my way home, Now I do not appreciate the flippant answer that if you had to slice som rare roast beef you would have to charge $20 for a sandwich. In hindsight I should have asked for my money back. I will try to add your response and mine...
Read moreWhat happened to this place? Used to be the best sandwich shop in Redwood City hands down. I was always excited to try a different sandwich because they were all so good. My favorites were the Godfather and the Tuscan.
A few months ago I looked online and saw they had a smaller menu. Not sure why that was. Didn't know if it was temporary or new owners or what but.... whatever.
Anyways, last time we ordered when my friend went to pick up our online order 30 minutes later, he arrived and they said they lost the ticket. No problem, whatever, things happen. My friend waits for another 30 minutes and then was wondering what was going on and they said they still hadn't started on the order and had to give them the order AGAIN. so he waited 1 hour after we ordered an additional 30 minute beforehand online. So that sucks. But you gotta do what you gotta do to get an amazing sandwich.... right?
So we finally get the sandwiches. Super pumped. Got the Tuscan again because it's been fire everytime i've had it. Open it up and look and..... something isn't right... the meat looks really thin...... why does this look like Carl Budding? Nothing against Carl Budding but that's a 3 dollar sandwich meat, not a 20 dollar sandwich meat. My meat was thin, translucent, and not very good. It looked like they just opened a bag of low grade commercial pre sliced meat and put it on there.... GIANT DROP IN QUALITY. Also, the sundried tomatoes tasted like nothing, whereas in the past they've given the sandwich a zippy fruity kind of appeal which made the sandwich absolutely delightful. Needless to say I was disappointed.
Well, I don't know if I'll give this company another shot. I'd like to but I don't know what's going on there. I'm really sad because I loved ordering from here. Something has definitely changed and quality on the food has certainly dropped. Crossing my fingers that they fix whatever their...
