My family has been coming here since they opened. We quickly became fans of their brisket - in my opinion, it's the best thing on their menu.
I've always felt that the Bay Area lacked good BBQ, so I hope this place is here to stay. Their brisket is so tender, moist, and flavorful. I've been to Austin, Nashville, and Charleston, and I still think this place has some of the most memorable brisket I've had.
Yesterday, I went and ordered a large BBQ meal with brisket. Once I took it home and dug in, I started to feel like I'd been given the same amount of meat that I'd had the last time I ordered a regular meal. I called in and asked them how many slices I was supposed to get with a large. They quickly realized there'd been a mistake and asked if I was close by.
I told them I could come back in a few hours, and they said they'd make up the difference. We hung up. Just a few minutes later, the manager, Hugo, called me to apologize. He also said he'd make it up to me with a gift card, which was above and beyond.
True to their word, when I came by later in the day, they had a gift card with my name on it and the different cashier had been briefed on the situation. She was very kind about getting me the new portion and even comped me when I threw in an extra slice of cornbread which I had intended to pay for.
I really appreciate the staff here turning a disappointing experience into a great one. It made me feel appreciated as a customer and happy to keep coming back.
If you haven't been here yet, try the brisket! Come support a local business. They do catering and fundraisers. They sell great BBQ sauce and seasonings. They have smoked turkeys available for pre-order every Thanksgiving. There's free parking. Their new bittersweet chocolate pie is awesome. They have garlic bread AND cornbread so you don't have to choose. Their smoker is parked in the lot, so you can see that they make everything onsite.
Really so much to offer and you're missing out if you haven't...
Read moreWaste of Money. Poor quality and service. Ordered two meals and two drinks. Went to the soda machine to get root beer and the soda machine had no carbonation so we had to resort to two cans of Pepsi from the fridge. Once we got our food at the counter and sat down we had a bite and ALL of the food was cold. Mac&Cheese was cold, bread cold, ribs cold, baked beans cold. Not warm, literally cold. We brought it back and the younger lady working behind the counter genuinely was sorry but the cashier lady at the counter with with ear pods in gave me a rude look. Didn't even try to get the attention of the guy working in the food prep area with his rubber food service gloves on while texting on his phone as it was laying on the cutting board. Finally got our food back and after trying the food all with bland flavor. The Mac&Cheese really looked/ tasted like Costco pre-made mac&cheese. We observed the family after us that got their food and the lady started touching her food with her fingers and says to her husband it was cold also. Was expecting good BBQ and we are no where bear picky eaters. Just a waste of money for the price not at all work it. Just giving honest review. - 10/6/2023...
Read moreGood BBQ is hard to come by in the Bay Area and Redwood City BBQ provides some relief with hits & misses. The menu is a little pricier for the quantity, quality, and casual ambiance offered here. We ordered several items for pick here and decided to eat at the restaurant. The online ordering system works well and the food was ready on-time. The brisket was cooked to medium-well and was nice with the BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce airs on the spicier side here which I really liked. I found the pull pork overly fatty though this can sometimes be the nature of this dish. I love a good cornbread, but the cornbread slice here was a bit bland, unsweetened and just didn't do much for me. Adding some of the honey did help. Sometimes classics like the mac n cheese are best left to their original recipes, I found the mac n cheese infused with another flavor which didn't make it appealing. The outdoor picnic style benches are fun and a good spot to meet with family/friends. There is a decent selection of beers/ciders here. The restaurant was missing a sweet tea (non-bottled version), a classic pairing for BBQ. Parking can be...
