Small local business- really loved the concept of simple, homemade to-go bentos, so we were super excited to come here a few weeks ago. A very friendly, older Japanese woman took our orders and offered us free drinks as well. The food came very quickly, so overall a really great in-store impression. Unfortunately, the food itself was just okay, and seemed overly catered to American tastes. The curry was a bit watery and was slightly sour, while the edamame was oily and too garlicky. The unagi sauce was overly sweet and didn't have that deep umami flavor.
Overall, an interesting concept and if you're not too picky about food or on a budget (the portions are HUGE), it's a worth a try.

Read moreMy take out dinner was humongous from Diner Japonica. It could’ve fed 2 patrons easily. It was a combination dinner with tempura, salmon lots of rice and a side of greens w an umami dressing. The place is not a sit down diner with the booths cordoned off. The old looking restaurant is in a small strip mall right on Woodside with a small parking lot. If you like big portions of oishi foods, get on over there. If you’re looking for ambience, it’s not this place but when I’m hungry for oishi foods, I’m definitely going back. The obasan who works there is very sweet. I recommend this little...
Read moreLove this small diner!! Family owned and authentic! I love their bento boxes and appetizers. Tried some entrees too and they were delicious! I believe they're Cash only which I believe is due to % fee charges to the business if they took cards. Their service may be a bit slow but because hiring extra staff won't be profitable to survive the rent around here so I'm understanding to be patient and enjoy my wait. If you're always in a hurry then this place might not suit you. I've come to them for like 5 years or so since opening and never left with a...
