Capri Motel — Hotel in Redwood City

This is a very middle of the road place, what I expect of a Motel for this price. No bugs in the room, no mold in the showers, no obvious drug use happening, beds were clean enough to sleep in, and with a less than professional and rather rude and unhelpfull staff.

There was a lot of renovations going on, so a lot of dust in the air that bothered my Partner's alergies. The staff wasn't allowed to enter our room when we weren't there, which was strange, so when we left our widow open accedently after leaving for the day it had to stay open. Before the front desk staff was told they couldn't go in our room of we wheren't there we let the front desk know our fridge didn't work. After a confusing conversation where she tied to tell me how to turn the fridge on a colder setting using a knob that wasn't there, she realized the knob must not be there and put a new one in our fridge for us.

In Summary:

Pros: We needed a room last minute while accessing care for a family member from Stanford. This was a room. Microwave and minature fridge in room. No bugs. Free Wi-Fi.

Cons: Can't use in room phone without a deposit. I didn't test to see if a 911 call would have worked, but I should have. Walls were stained and room smelled of old cigarette smoke, despite it being a non-smoking room. Carpets were dirty with crusted on degree and stained. The fridge leaked, though luckily only inside itself and not onto the floor. The attached microwave was underpowered and the fridge didn't work at all when we first got there, due to the missing dial. In room TV not usable, so if you're looking to watch TV during your stay, you might be out of luck. Left something in our room after checking out. The front desk apparently has no way of contacting housekeeping so when I called to ask about it I was told to call back 30 minutes later, After front desk could talk to housekeeping. After an hour no one answered so we had to go 20 minutes out of our way to see if the motel still had it. They had thrown it away and I had to ask them to get it out of their garbage for me. The fan in the bathroom was so loud it was headache inducing. You could hear the adjacent room's fans if they were on.

If you need a place to sleep and everywhere else is full up this is probably a better option than sleeping at the Hospital in the waiting room or in your car, since you'll have your own toilet and a bed...

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Besides the heroin addict/drunk next door who liked to swoop on my cigarette butts, in The four days I stayed there was a police presence every single day. One night my 2 going children Andi walked out to 8 police officers sweeping the propert in swat formation all weapons drawn. When I asked if we were safe tobcriss the street the officer said "this is the safest spot in the city right now". Good point, unfortunately my 5 year old had nightmares about being shot. The next say twobstaff members were physically threateningnine another while thebmsnager ignored their domestic issues to instead scream at a guest for being an hour past check out. I've heard run Its of bed bugs...and the place is filthy and under constant construction. Only reason to ever stay here....if you're posting services on Craigslist, you just need a nap, or its the last hotel available on earth. Or, if the county is...

Under remodelling, way over priced for the kind of motel. Rooms were clean and free of smells, at least, and there was a mini fridge/microwave combo, but the phone requires a down payment to use, the TV was unusable, and the fan in the bathroom, which was so loud as to be headache-inducing and audible through the wall into the next room, was tied to the bathroom light, and therefore activated every time the light was needed. Management was able to replace the dial controlling the temperature in the mini fridge, which was missing, whole we were out, but was subsequently unable to enter our room to close a window we accidentally left open or to check our room for something we left behind after we checked out.
