I've seen worse. A LOT worse! But usually, worse means cheaper and in this case, although for Redwood City it is indeed 'budget', you'll get cheaper (and probably the same quality) elsewhere in the Bay Area. Why Redwood City needs so many hotels and why they charge such a high rates is a mystery, but I digress...||||The biggest problem with this property is the staff. It seems to be a family run business and it's a family that is clueless about how to treat paying customers. They just don't care. It's not that they're out and out rude, it's just that they truly couldn't care less about you. Just pay up, go to your room and don't bother us seems to be the mantra. You can actually check in and out with only a cursory word or two from the staff. They really are astonishingly rude.||||The lobby contains a coffee machine and packaged pastries and that constitutes the "free" breakfast. There are no other amenities on property. Rooms are on two floors and since there are no elevators, make sure you're on the ground floor if you have mobility issues. Parking is ample. There's a space for each room. I think.||||Rooms have apparently been 'renovated', but you'd never know. Carpets are old and a bit grubby, but again, I've seen worse. Furniture is a bit battered. There is a fridge and a microwave, plus a big flat screen TV. WIFI is reliable and free. My room was quite large and had a separate sitting/working area and there was a lot of unused space. Linens are relatively clean. Beds are comfortable. Room-room noise is tolerable. Somebody did turn their TV on at full blast around 10PM and must have left the property as it was still blaring at full blast at 10AM. It was heard in every room. The staff did not care. You will also be woken by the (daily it seems) city garbage trucks that reverse into the property, empty all the bins as noisily as they can and then depart. This seems to happen between 7AM and 8AM most mornings. Guests leaving early certainly don't care about keeping quiet.||||Bathrooms could do with a big refresh, but they are relatively clean. Hot water takes forever to run hot and you may have to run the shower or taps for quite some time to get the hot flowing. A criminal waste of water. Soap and shampoo are provided. Towels could do with much better laundry.||||It's cheap(ish) for a reason. It's a basic property in a poor area. If it's the best you can get, you won't be too horrified. It's a two star property that delivers a two star experience. At three...

Read moreI came up here for a week long business trip, prebooked & paid for the week. After a very long day of travel & work i arrive to check in. A man is on the phone in the back, yelling about a broken window & the younger man helping me seemed as though i was a burden for needing to check in, rushing me to sign & forgetting to return my ID in the process & visibly irritated when i didnt rush out the door after getting my room key because i wanted my ID (no way a complimentary breakfast can be served anywhere on premises possibly because of lack of space available & cleanliness, although included in the package, mind you). Poor customer service can be tolerated by me more than most, to a certain extent. However, checking into a room that has mold coming from the ceiling outside the only shower & has been growing downward,...that is apparent of a current or previous leak & one that hasn't been properly, addressed, as there are many bubbles & growth on the wall & ceiling etc...After visiting a nearby walmart to just get through the night after such a long traveling day & no where else to stay, i later find a good size crust around bathroom faucet, in the edges around the sink/back splashes, nearly all baseboards covered in yucky ness, what appeared to be wax, was covering the side of the only night stand visble, a whole hidden in the drywall wall dividing the rooms hidden by a well placed dresser, a live bug in the towels hanging up that are provided in the bath...the list goes on & if i could figure out how to post the photos of all this & more, i will. When traveling for work or pleasure & looking for something not "luxury" but clean & decent that you can afford...do your research! You may have to spend a lil more to make it through the night but its worth getting a decent night sleep vs experiencing what i did. Under other circustances, i would have refused. Best of luck &...
