I stay at Holiday Inn's on a regular basis so I stay at them in multiple states. Of all the Holiday Inn's this is the worst I have ever stayed at. The maid service is horrible. You could argue that maid service is cut back because of Covid, however this does not justify my experience, I have stayed at some in recent months that you do not get maid service everyday due to cutting back on staff. That is perfectly fine and acceptable. That is not what I am talking about. The maid did not always come in but when she did there was no consistency. Bed not made or sheets not changed could be due to Covid cutbacks but I would think it would be consistent as per the Covid policy. Some days clean sheets most days not. Some days coffee was not replenished so I finally bought my own K cups for the 2 week stay. My last day I couldn't even make coffee because they threw away the used cups and did not provide new ones. Sometimes the garbage was empty and some days not. If they did come in the sink and counter were not cleaned. Then one morning I went down for water seeing as the Covid policy is very limited free breakfast. Again, fine in the times we are in. However there was no water and when I asked the front desk person he said that is because some people take more than one. they are supposed to. So I am buying my own breakfast but 2 waters for coffee is to much when most mornings I did';t even go down for water. I have another trip August 24th and I am seriously thinking of staying somewhere else in spite of the convenience of the location and giving up stay points. I seriously think you need to have someone from corporate stay there for 2 weeks unannounced in stead of taking my word for it. And the dumpster next door outside the window is emptied at...
Read moreStayed two nights while visiting my mother. While the area is outrageously expensive the Holiday Inn Express was one of the less expensive hotels in the area without giving up a lot.
Pros: Bed was excellent, one of the best hotel beds I've slept in recently. Great pillows, very comfortable. Room was quiet. I loved the alcove that my room was in (Room 235). It was very quiet except for the fellow guests going in and out of their rooms (Don't know why people don't pay attention to the "Shhh" sign on my door.) The room had awesome amenities for the tech savvy traveler. All the right plugs in all the right areas. Great TV. With the right cables I could stream from my ipad easily. I loved how close it was to a Whole Foods, Starbucks and the Cal Train Station. I was able to do all my commuting via the train. The front desk staff were friendly and very responsive to requests.
Cons: Upon checking in I wanted to put some food in the fridge. The fridge was warm and there was no handle on the temp control dial. A front desk clerk responded immediately by getting a handle from an unused room. After coming back for the evening and after my shower (about 11pm) I discovered that the smoke alarm battery was dying and making that chirping noise. The front desk clerk on duty came to the room to check it out and then promptly brought a ladder to remove it. The smoke alarm was replaced the next day while I was out. The next day the cleaning staff, however, took my used towels and never replaced them nor did they clean my room. I don't know what happened in that instance but for every other problem the staff promptly fixed the problem to my satisfaction. I will definitely stay...
Read moreI am a platinum member of IHG one rewards program. I travel a lots and I always choose IHG hotels for my stay, but this hotel gave me a very bad experience!!
First, there was no recognition or greeting for the platinum member. During checking in, I asked the reception that was there any additional cost if I would like to change room type from one bed to two beds? She said “there was no additional cost”, so I requested to change the room. However I was overcharged during the payment process. When I asked about this overcharged cost, she called the manager to find out the reason. The manager said that I couldn’t upgrade the room without charge even though I explained that I was the platinum member, I should be able to upgrade room base on IHG policies. But he replied “No, you can’t!!”
Secondly, there were problems with the room keycard more than 3 times. The key card could not open the door. When I informed these problems to the receptions, their answer was there was some problem with the system and they didn’t try to fix this problem for me.
Third, hotel layout is quite funny. Especially the manager room which is located in front of elevators and breakfast room. This make uncomfortably for guests. It seems that we are looking out all the time when we go out or come in or when we have a breakfast because every time I will see the manager’s eye contact.
Last but not least, there is no satisfaction survey for this stay sent to me. So, I cannot give any feedback to this property.
I do hope that my feedback here will be read by IHG’s management team and there will be an improvement.
However, I will stay at IHG hotel for my...
