Houston White came highly recommended by a sales rep at local builder Schell Brothers. As someone who loves to support locally owned and operated businesses, I was eager to give it a try. Nestled in the heart of Rehoboth Beach’s downtown shopping and dining area, this small gem boasts a beautiful dining space and a quaint bar. We started with the cheddar bread, which was so good we took home what we didn't eat. The craft gin cocktails were balanced and perfectly flavored, setting the tone for a delightful culinary experience. I started with a bowl of potato soup, which was packed with flavor yet not too heavy—perfect for a cold, rainy February day. This was followed by the Caesar salad, a known specialty. The greens were fresh, and the dressing struck the perfect balance of flavor and consistency without overwhelming the salad. For the main course, I enjoyed a 6oz filet mignon with au poivre sauce. The steak melted in my mouth, and the sauce added an extra layer of enjoyment. My wife ordered the mushroom risotto, which was wine-based and darker than she expected. If you prefer a white-sauce risotto, you might want to choose something else. However, the risotto was perfectly cooked, showcasing the chef’s expertise. I look forward to returning to this small business when I visit Rehoboth Beach again, hopefully on a warm day when I can stroll around after a fine meal and enjoy the local shops. I highly recommend patronizing this local gem and supporting local businesses. You’ll be glad you did.

Disclaimer: my experience is negatively colored because I was looking forward to the dry aged Kansas city strip, and our waiter told us it was the special for the night, but then when taking our order said he misspoke. Right there, my night was ruined. But trying to be unbiased... the fried green tomato appetizer was really good. My 20oz dry aged ribeye had a nice dry aged flavor. My complaint is that there was a bit too much salt on the meat and butter in the pan/ plate. It took away from the great dry aged flavor and actually made it hard on my stomach. We also had a filet, nice flavor but same salt and butter issue, and the asparagus was not cooked crisp. It was tasty, but quite limp. The drinks were good, but not fancy to match the type of night wer expected paying that much for a dry aged steak. Final ruining moment of my night: I said no to the sour cream for my baked potato but it was brought out anyway...ok, except they charged me $1 for it (and another $1 for my wife).... we were never told about this, let alone charge me for something I didn't have. Poor touch on what I really hoped was going to be a special night.

Such a nice steakhouse! My husband and I came for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. The hostess gave us an amazing table by the windows, so we were able to watch the sunset as we ate. There was such a cozy, warm atmosphere. Dining here was a slow, but wonderful experience. It took about 1.5-2 hours from the moment we sat town to finishing the check. The cheddar biscuits were wonderful, the wine was excellent and the food was great. The table shares (sides) were enough for one serving for 4 people. So, take that in mind as you order! Also, I don’t recommend you bring kids! This is definitely aimed for adults. :-) My only two issues were that: 1. The coke was from a bottle, which was kind of flat. 2. The hostess stand was this deli cooler and once it got dark out, the fluorescent light from the cooler was beaming, which took away from the cozy, romantic ambiance. However, we both agreed that this place is a must-visit and we’ll be returning!

Stay clear of this place Safety and service issues We travel alot and enjoy fine dining home and abroad. We decide to enjoy a dinner at Houston White out of the few we were contemplating from the information and reviews for this establishment. We were looking forward to an enjoyable experience. We made reservations to celebrate my birthday with our out of country vistiors for 8pm and when we arrived we were seated promptly. The place was booked solid and took a little time for the waitress to greet us. We reviewed the menu and eventually gave the waitress our choices for appetizers and drinks. After a lengthy wait our drinks and appetizers finally arrived to our displeasure everything we asked to eliminate due to food allergies and sub was totally ignored and had to be send back to correct. When we received the reworked Appetizers the salad was literally half the amount from the incorrect first order.

The waitress took our entree orders. Never took our finished plates from our tables or took care of our refills. Finally a bus person took the plates and refilled our drinks after asking him.

In the mean time other tables next to us had new patrons arrive and sit have their entrees on their table and we are still waiting. Still no waitress and more plates to remove no service.

Finally a hostess came up asked how everything is going I told her it was now 90 minutes and no meals and other tables were being served and left while we still waiting. Finally the annoyed waitress came to our table and said to be patient on our kitchen well I feel after 90 minutes our patience has worn thin. Finally after another 20 minutes still no food. And never had the waitress attempt to communicate any issues or apologize for the wait. We decided to leave. At this point no other restaurant was serving since it was now 10 pm. So on my birthday We had to go to a pizza place to have food in our stomachs. If we did not complain we would still be sitting there the next morning especially every staff members walking past the table ignoring us.

When we went up to complain they said sorry there was a FIRE in the kitchen and our order was lost in the fire. Well seems to me it's odd that other tables are still getting their meals during a FIRE and why was the establishment not evacuated. Suspicious when leaving they said our order that was lost in the fire was almost ready how did they know what we ordered if order slip was lost.

At this point we were so frustrated and disappointed we couldn't celebrate my birthday and we went without dinner. They said we own a pizza place down the street they would recommend us go there since everything else was close to seating.

I can understand being busy and or short handed however there was no attempt by our waitress to say sorry for the wait or offer to refill our empty glasses. We get much better customer service at long Horn and cracker barrels. We are fortunate to be able to spend up to $600.00 for a good dinner there we never experienced customer service like this even McDonald's offers better customer service.

The fire Marshall should inspect and find out why a very packed restaurant was not evacuated during an alleged fire which we never saw or smelt smoke. The total experience was unexcusable and they should be ashamed that they are able to and seem to not care I had to have pizza for my birthday...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Houston White Co. with my family, and we were all blown away by the food, service, and atmosphere. The menu features a variety of classic American dishes with a modern twist, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We started with the mushrooms, which were cooked to perfection and seasoned with just the right amount of garlic and herb. For our main courses, we had the 6 oz filet mignon cooked medium, the 10 oz filet mignon cooked medium rare, and the 14 oz Delmonico ribeye cooked medium. All three steaks were cooked to perfection and were incredibly juicy and flavorful. The sides were also delicious, with the mac and cheese being our favorite. The loaded baked potato was also very generous and the brussel sprouts were crispy and perfectly seasoned.

The service at Houston White Co. was also excellent. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and he made sure that we had a great dining experience. The atmosphere at the restaurant is also very inviting. It's a small, intimate space with a warm and inviting atmosphere. We would highly recommend Houston White Co. to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Rehoboth Beach.

Here are some specific things that we loved about Houston White Co.:

The food was absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned.

The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.

The atmosphere was warm and inviting. It's a great place to go for a special occasion or a romantic dinner.

We would definitely give Houston White Co. five stars and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Rehoboth Beach.

It deserves more than just two $$...
