We had a decent experience at Fins Downtown over the weekend. Our server was Ashley and she was WONDERFUL. Super attentive, friendly, and knew the menu well. She’s a true asset to the team there.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was good. The decor stuck with the oyster and seafood theme. However, the tables were a bit small. My boyfriend, son, and I were sat at a table that had us elbow to elbow. Looking around, all the tables were that size, other than ones pushed together to make tables for larger groups. Would have been nice if they had larger tables. Also, the upstairs bathroom was absolutely disgusting. We had a pretty early lunch, so I’m surprised how dirty it was so early in their operating hours.
As far as the food goes, it was a mix of good and bad. My boyfriend had oysters, which he said were pretty good. We all shared the lobster nachos - the cheese on the nachos was delicious, the lobster was over cooked, as were the chips. We also thought it was odd there were fries with the nachos. For entrees my boyfriend had a beet salad with shrimp, he said it was all fresh, but that the dressing was so mild it was almost flavorless. My son had chicken tenders, as most children do. And he was satisfied. I had the blackened fish tacos which would have been great, but they were ridiculously over seasoned and salty. The toppings for it were delicious though. And the portion of fish was decent for the price of the meal.
Overall, I can’t rave about this place. I’d say it’s pretty mediocre. But we’d still be willing to go...

Sunday 9.2.18, party of 3 for afternoon light dinner. Margaritas all around to start. We decided as a group to do it tapas style. We ordered 2 apps and 2 smaller entrees. Stuffed potato skins with seafood, Crab dip with toasted french bread, Shrimp Tacos, and a Lobster Roll. Everything was SUPER fresh and prepared perfectly. Shrimp tacos were served with a black bean and corn salsa and a papaya fruit salsa. We finished the meal sharing a piece of the Raspberry Ombre Cake.. All in with Tip 100. The Meal was SO GOOD, that 2 of us decided to dine here AGAIN on Monday evening, September 3, 2018. Tapas style again, One Margarita, One water. Started with the Fried Calamari with sweet spicy thai dipping sauce, seafood eggrolls and "blackened" Shrimp tacos. We ordered one entree, the Seafood Bake. Again, EVERYTHING was a hit, Calamari was perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection. The seafood eggrolls were huge, deep fried and filled with seafood. The shrimp tacos (2) contained 3 large blackened shrimp per taco over a lightly seasoned slaw again served with Black bean corn salsa and papaya salsa.... YUM!. The entree was baked seafood. 4 large shrimp, 4 large scallops, Filet topped with a small crab cake, (perfectly prepared)served with 2 side (shoestring potatoes and Coleslaw). Again, FINS for the WIN!!! All in including tip 97.00. Fresh and well prepared seafood without pretense. This place...

Nothing to write home about. For starters, the reception at the front was unorganized and frazzled with the amount of reservations that they were seating. They said they would call when my table was ready but an hour went by and nothing. They seated us immediately when I went back to check. When we were seated it took 10 minutes for someone to come to the table and acknowledge us.
When our appetizer orders were taken, our waiter came back and told me there were no more clams for the night. 15 minutes later, a table had 2 orders of clams at their table. When the main courses came out, 2 of our entrees had the wrong sides and my order took another 10 minutes after everyone else was served. When I finally recieved my order the asparagus was way over cooked and my fish was undercooked and not seasoned. (Picture below) I couldn't believe that plate left the kitchen. I sent it back and ordered something else which I was hesitant to do because they messed up several times and I was furious to the point where I wasn't hungry anymore. When my second meal came out the green beans side had absolutely NO seasoning on it and there were a bunch of random french fries mixed in with my plate, my other side was rice. Not a very welcoming atmosphere and I won't be back. During our 5 day visit this restaurant was the worst one and only one we had a bad experience with...
