Unfortunately I have to be completely honest in this review, as this has happened every single time that we have given this place a chance in the past year-to six months. I have been a local in rehoboth for years, and stingray used to be my favorite spot to frequent week after week after week with myself, my wife, and all of my friends. PATRON BEWARE of this restaurant now. I like to go for PM sushi and the regular menu. I will typically arrive an hour to an hour and a half early for the regular menu, as it’s normal to be served within an hour and a half. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a server to acknowledge you in the evening here unless it’s a large group. That’s fine, I don’t mind ordering at the bar. It does not matter however because even IF you finally manage to order, you will not get the food you paid for. Four of the times I have been in the past few months they barely bring us what we order, resulting in us always having to ask for the bill modified so we aren’t charged for things we didn’t receive. The drinks are also awful. The drinks I received this last time I was there were absolutely astonishingly terrible. I am adding an extra star because the sushi was ACTUALLY finally good for the first time this year. Finally, after being ignored almost the entire two hours we were there, we were handed a bill UNPROMPTED as if to tell us to get the hell out, not to mention we wanted to order more drinks but decided not to because of this. I’m sorry for taking up a table for a long time, but when NOBODY acknowledges you’re there it’s kind of hard to keep it quick. I understand that this restaurant is under new management but this is just crazy and getting worse. I absolutely do not believe that the influx of “five star reviews” recently are real people. I would like to add that I am not the only person that feels this way, I love to support local business but it seems that many locals are on the same page here. I will not be returning ever again which is really sad. But I have to assume this is the new normal after multiple attempts coming here since the changes. Hopefully the restaurant is either taken over by someone else soon or turned into something else that deserves that prime location because this place, DOES NOT. I do not...
Read moreLiterally never had a bad experience at Stingrays before and I work at a restaurant so I know what it’s like to busy and/or shortstaffed but oh my god. We waited an HOUR just for appetizers and we were missing one that then got brought out shortly after and told the “kitchen didn’t make them” which we couldn’t tell if that meant they messed up or the server didn’t put them in. Also the table next to us had been seated for 20 minutes before they had to flag down the server to ask if they were going to be waited on as well as the table in the corner complaining about wait times and taking the check up to the front counter. Then we waited another 45 minutes wondering where our food was because at that point the restaurant had cleared out decently since when we first showed up and the food order had been placed way before we even got our apps, not to mention a table that had been sat way before us had JUST gotten their food so we know they had to have waited forever. After all that waiting, we were told by the server that he forgot to put the order in and we could wait to get our food or just get our check. While he was very sorry and courteous the whole time, we were tired and so hungry and just wanted to get food elsewhere at that point. This is my first time ever walking out of a restaurant before as usually I am patient and understand wait times are going to be long if it’s busy. We got the check and still got charged for all of our drinks and apps full price with no discount or even asking if we needed one. I’ve never in my life tipped less than 20% because usually it’s not even the server’s fault but how do you forget an entire table’s meals and then come to check on us when you see that we’re sitting and waiting on food that we ordered almost 2 hours ago. We ended up going to another cheaper restaurant and got the best service ever and were in and out in 30 minutes even with them being...
Read moreStingrays used to be one of my top restaurants to go to, one of my favorites, however it appears as if they have completely butchered their menu and service with the new acquisition.
I came in last weekend to celebrate my anniversary with my husband. I informed them that I could only eat cooked sushi and the waiter stated the only option I had was vegetarian. Stingrays used to have a large array of cooked options, which were clearly marked on their menu, however now their menu was cut into about 1/3 of what it used to be with no clear marking of what is cooked and what is not. I asked the waiter if he could speak to the chef and ask him if he could make an array of cooked options from items that are on the menu and he said that he could not. The waiter said that after they were acquired, the new owners got rid of a lot of ingredients to save money. After further digging, I found 4 rolls that appeared to be cooked, and the waiter said they should be good (not sure why they weren’t mentioned when I first asked). I ordered the dragon roll, hairy Mexican, the flying eagle, and the fiery volcano. My husband and I were greatly disappointed, especially with the Hairy Mexican, which we could tell was a completely different recipe than before. The rolls were bland, completely flavorless, dried out, and all tasted the same – no taste at all (which makes sense since the chefs are working with limited ingredients now according to the waiter).
We informed the waiter that we were disappointed and he said “Ok”.. that was all. He said that he hears that a lot and not much he could do. We ended up leaving, not even finishing the rolls that we had, because they were so awful, and ate at a different restaurant. We miss the old Stingrays for sure, and hope that the new owners see how disappointed regular locals are with the menu and...
