Kiwi's Tiki Hut — Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach

What a fun little place! We were there during the off-season as a quick impromptu visit to the area. There was an event happening in the hotel when we were there so this place was packed at night and even stayed open later than published. Live music, TV's throughout and a nice large bar and spacious tables that overlook the water. We just stopped in for some basketball and a drink after dinner somewhere else, but decided to try some "bar food" and got the nacho appetizer to pick at with our drinks. It was HUGE but it was loaded with so much on it (even more than was in the description) that the chips couldn't be picked up with your hands, so it was a little difficult to eat at the bar. There was only one bartender but he totally rocked the large crowd with ease. My first drink was kind of bitter but he quickly made me a new one that was great and didn't even charge me for it. He laughed as he admitted he had forgotten the simple syrup. I was amazed with the amount of people there that he could remember anything. The one star is only because the server was very polite and accommodating. The food however didn't deserve even one. I only ordered one thing, the Mahi sandwich on a baguette, so maybe other choices are fine, I don't know. The Mahi however was awful. Old, cold, dry as the sand across the boardwalk and tasted like it too. Inedible. The bread was tasteless as well. The salsa was okay, but the thimble full that came with the sandwich was only enough to accompany a bite or two, at which point the sandwich went back into the bag it came in with its next stop either the trash bin or the seagulls bellies. Don’t even bother, basically like a tourist trap. Went to a nice dinner with multiple rounds of drinks and entrees at a very nice spot on the water that was the same total price for all plastic items/cutlery and trash food? I’m just getting started. Also made an automatic 21% gratuity??? Ridiculous. Service was awful, the waitress didn’t even know the menu we had to tell her items. Pina coladas that aren’t frozen???? Bye. Fries are GREY??
