This place sucks.
I am about to do something I never do. First, please understand that I tend to be a bit of a "Foodie". What is that you ask? A foodie is someone with a strong interest in food, going beyond just eating to include a passion for cooking, exploring diverse cuisines, and experiencing new food-related activities. They view food as more than sustenance, seeing it as an experience to be savored and enjoyed. That explanation brought to you by the internet. Also, I am a very positive person. With that being said, here is my review of one of the most Aweful places I have ever been to in my life. So bad in service and in the product they served that I feel sorry for anyone that ever tries this place. Please allow me to walk you through my experience. I arrived with my party and there was no hostess. No big deal, someone will come soon, or so we thought. After 5 minutes of looking around and seeing no staff, a waiter comes out and simply says, "How many?" Now, this of it's own is not necessarily a bad sign especially in a busy dinner or restaurant. But this place was dead! OK, I let that go. Upon being walked to our table, I notice what seems to be an emergency exit is blocked. Big no no. The table we get, it is not only messy, there are chairs all over the place like someone just finished playing musical chairs. OK, I take.care of the mess and sit down with my party. Waiter comes back, no hello, no intro, no anything other than "What you want to drink?" and proceeds to place all the menus and silverware in a pile rather than handing them out. "Ok" I said to myself. Maybe this guy is just having a bad day. We order drinks. Drinks come. We order from the paper menu for the kids so we can get them fed ASAP because anyone with kids under 10 knows how hungry kids can be. Waiter comes back and says, "So you want 2 mac dogs?" After a few minutes of debate, and explaining what we were trying to order for the kids. And, after pointing out at the kids menu stating "we want a corn dog and Mac n cheese." Waiter says, "OH no, that sheat just for coloring. OK, OK. We pushed on and just said, hey let's just eat. We ordered a steak fajita and a seafood enchilada. I have to tell ya, fried cardboard would probably taste better than the food we were served. The enchiladas had no flavor, were dry, and you could not even taste the food at all. The steak fajitas were bland, no real taste, chewy, and even the guacamole had no flavor. Now, the staple of every Mexican restaurant, the cornerstone, is always the chips and salsa. The salsa was basically water logged bad gazpacho. The Kid's smiley face fries had more flavor than the 34 dollar enchiladas. I do not recommend this place to anyone. If I could give negative stars, I would give 3.14 negative stars. I have no idea how you mess up Mexican rice so bad that soilent green suddenly becomes a better option to have with your lifeless, tasteless, food.
PSA, avoid Dos Locos, or try at...
Read moreParking wasn't a terrible experience. This is because my friends know this area pretty well. It's right on the main drag, so parking is at a premium.
We came in at lunchtime, they had a few tables that were full. It wasn't busy, and this place has plenty of tables. We chose to sit at one of the high tops. The service was good, any questions were answered quickly, and anything we needed we got. The place was clean, including the bathrooms, and was aesthetically pleasing.
We all ordered drinks, they do have a full bar here with a large selection of tequilas. If I had to guess, I'd say around 50 different selection. They have a few different mezcals to choose from. I got a margarita that was tart city, nasty little mix, and you know I drank all of it. I also had a shot of Don Julio Anejo at $15. That's not horrible, but it's not a deal.
Guacamole had a nice light green color, smooth texture, and was cool in temperature. For me, it was ok, I prefer a high cilantro content. This guac, I couldn't even taste it in there. The chips....were fried hard, but thin, they kept breaking while trying to dip. They can't handle the guacamole! The basket that they brought out was full of already broken chips. The salsa....was the kind that tastes like it should be in an Italian restaurant, not a fan of this style. Forget about it!
I ordered the Mexican Plate: Sampling of a Taco, Burrito, Enchilada w/side of black bean chile and rice. Choice all Certified Angus Beef beef, chicken, pork, black bean chile or chef's choice. I went with the chefs choice. Taco...ground beef, and was a pretty darn big taco. It was loaded up with greasy meat that somehow tasted dry. This place would be a smash hit for my sister, who loves ground beef tacos. The taco was hard to handle because the grease penetrated the side of the corn tortilla, making it messy as hell. Pork enchilada...bland, just tasted like regular Joe shredded pork. Chicken burrito...was boring, not seasoned, seems like they try to rely on the sauce for taste. The red sauce was ok, nothing special, wouldn't order this again. Rice was lacking hydration. J A almost choked to death because of the dry desert.
JulieAnne ordered the lobster burrito, which looked really good. She had nothing but good things to say about it. Mike ordered chicken & scallop fajitas. He was satisfied with his order as well.
They had 3 different sauces at the table in bottles.
Roja loco puts the d in disgusting city of vinegar. This could possibly be a decent wing sauce. Maybe... Jalapeno has almost the same vinegar twang to it. Rough! Pineapple teriyaki is like a dirty vinegar chipotle. One of the most horrible sauces I've...
Read moreI have always loved Dos Locos! My husband and I have been coming here for about 25 years. The food is phenomenal! I love the stone grill options. This has been our favorite restaurant in Rehoboth Beach for a long time.
We have made reservations here for Valentine's Day for a number of years and have always enjoyed the beautiful decorations and the fun atmosphere. We loved the photo backdrop that was set up this year for Valentine's Day! The only reason I am giving this a 3 star rating, instead of 5 stars is the following experience today... ... My deep disappointment this year, at this restaurant, is that we were the only guests at the restaurant who did not get any roses.
Every year on Valentine's Day, they hand out 1 or 2 roses to their customers. I always look forward to this very sweet tradition. I was happy this year as we watched that happening again. In fact, every other couple present at the restaurant, while we were there, was given 2 roses...except my husband and I.
I am not sure why we were the only ones not given any, but I did feel deeply disappointed and significantly excluded. We had made a reservation and we had enjoyed dinner and dessert. We watched every other guest in the restaurant leave with 2 roses, however, we were given none and no explanation. : (
I feel sad and sincerely disappointed to have been the only ones there to leave without any roses. The couple in the booth beside us , who were leaving at the same time as us, were given 2 roses. If there were only 2 roses left, they should have offered us each one. I love the tradition, but truly feel disappointed about our exclusion from it by the restaurant this year.
This was just one day and one difficult experience on Valentine's Day. It was hurtful to feel singled out for exclusion. In any event, we have loved this restaurant for many many years and their food is wonderful. However, I would feel better if the restaurant offered us a...
