This place is the bomb! If you are from out of town, you would just drive by this place and think:” what the heck is in there?” Well I will tell you! The hidden treasure of RENO!
You enter through the backside of the building where you will see a canapy with multiple tables to eat at. This is the biggest part of the dining are!
We were fortunate to find 3 seats inside out of 11 that they have. Ours were right at the bar! Perfect view of kitchen staff and all the odd stickers plastered all over the walls and cabinets.
The menu you say? Well it is all beef, all beef x2 or x3 or x4 patties but not just that, chicken too!
I settled for the burger of the day: chopped sausage and beef in cheddar cheese, sautéed onions. I had the green peppers left off because they do not agree with me. This sandwich certainly did agree and glad I got it!
I am also an expert in onion rings and these were so good and thick cut! Breaded perfectly that the portion I got could have been a meal in itself!
My dining partners received a huge platter of Parmesan, black pepper fries. I liked that they asked you if you wanted garlic added or not to taste, we passed on that. But the flavored fries were very hot, tasteful and the spices in it were perfect!
One ordered a regular cheeseburger and another dining partner order the burger with thousand island dressing, sautéed onions and cheese. She devoured that faster than I finished and said it was the best burger ever!
Honestly looking at the menu I could have ordered one of everything it sounded so good! They do serve beer and had 6-8 on tap. The water you order comes in a stainless milkshake making cup and kept the water cold and was plentiful!
This place is small, come with that mind set and that you have to sit outside possibly. While we were there it was a steady stream of customers from 1:30pm to 2:45pm when we left. They said we “missed” the rush? This place was still busy! The hostess was friendly as were the cook chefs and one owner who came in. Talk is loud in such a small space. The crowd was business dress, to bikers to students who came and went!
This is an iconic place that if you are in Reno, you would be an idiot to miss it.
I am one of the top 10% Google reviewers, and when I know a place, I know a place and this is it! It has been the culinary highlight of my trip to Reno so far! Do...
Read moreSo I loved Beefys and originally gave this place 5 stars. Tonight I took my dad there for his birthday and was so disappointed to find out they changed their fries. They used to have the best fries in Reno, shoestring, handcut fresh, and fried twice with just enough salt. The new fries I had tonight were from frozen and gross and sad. I had been so excited to take my dad there and hyped up how amazing their fries were so it was a major letdown. I know it may sound silly since it's "just fries" (I realize this is totally a first world problem) and their burgers are certainly tasty, but the main reason I'd come here instead of ten other burger places closer to me (that are also generally cheaper and serve their burgers with fries included rather than ordering them on the side) is because of the amazing fries. I understand making handcut fries every day must be a crazy amount of work and probably takes hours but it's what really put Beefy's over the top and made it not just a pretty good burger place, but a great one. The burgers made it good but the fries and the old school roadside burger shack atmosphere made it special and unique and awesome. Plus to me if you start cutting corners with the fries, then what's next? How long until the burgers and other food starts to suffer because it's "too much work?" Their service is always fast and friendly and their burgers are still very tasty but I don't think I'll be back. Please please please bring back your...
Read moreTGIF Dinner with good friends, Kathleen and Marilyn. Thank you, Marilyn, for suggesting hamburgers. I am so happy I Googled “The Best Hamburger” place in Reno and found Beefy’s! I still cannot believe I had not heard of them until now and that they’ve been in Reno for 5 years… As hamburgers are my guilty pleasure. The food was to die for! From the delicious fried pickle spears, shared French fries, onion rings and burgers, this was hands down the best burger I’ve had in a very long time. Kudos to the chef for cooking my burger to perfection – Done, but not too done with absolutely no pink color to the delicious disk of ground meat! I think we would all agree that our little server (seriously little in girth), was entertaining and very good at what he does. You will see him in our selfie as he photo bombed us. The only suggestion we have to him is that while the burgers are the bomb, he should perhaps stick with salads for job security. I say this as this gem of a burger joint is located in a landmark diner (Landrum’s) building. He seriously only has about 2 feet in width to maneuver behind the counter. Finally, if you too would like to try out Beefy’s, be prepared to become a human puzzle piece as the diner is very small with limited seating. The three young men who planned to take our vacated seats had to proceed us outside as there was no room to go around them. Even this added to the charm of this local gem!...
