IHOP — Restaurant in Reno

I went to this location on Saturday January 6th 2024 & let me just say. This is one of the most unprofessional establishments I have ever been to, staff wise. My husband and I wanted to take our son to his first dine in experience and we sadly chose this location. Upon arrival I was immediately thrown off by a particular male server as he was staring be down giving dirty looks as soon as we walked in that was the first thing I saw. We get seated and he just so happens to be our server. KENNYON B was his name. He gets our drinks and hands us an orange juice just barley filled half way and no straws. I proceed to ask nicely and he TOSSES two straws for the THREE people sitting there. Ok.. i ordered a strawberry lemonade because kennyon told me YES we have some when I asked. What I got was far from that. You could have just said no ma’am we do not. Instead he concocted something of his own. At this point we were ready to get up and walk out because of how this server was acting towards us since the moment we sat down. We notice the other staff is just as unprofessional.. we think ok maybe they’re just slacking today. We’ll stay give ‘em a bit more of a chance. We order. While we do , we order a side of sausage and bacon for my child because his meal didn’t come with it and kennyon sighs… ok. We get our food and we’re still waiting on my sons meal. A while goes by and my husband asks where our sons food is… he says. “Oh.” He brings back a half made plate with not everything that was supposed to be on it. & Says “I thought he was sharing with you guys.” Ok .. By then we waited for my sons food for way too long and hadn’t eaten but a few bites of sides even my son didn’t want to eat he felt the bad energy. We were ready to go. We asked for to go plates and got the check. Kennyon says “how much do you want back in change, you have $12. sum.”(I don’t remember the change) and my husband says yup. And we proceed to walk out and kennyon says “I love working for free.” At that point me and baby were in the car while my husband gave kennyon an earful. New staff on the floor is what is needed because I also witnessed while waiting by the door a lady tell her server the table is sticky can you please wipe it down. The lady proceeds to ignore the customer turn around and tell her coworker and or boss about some personal problem she was having. Not to mention the two tables kennyon was serving next to us were also families and the wife on one table seemed to be just as annoyed as I was and the other table he was sitting down at the booth while taking their order. I ordered pick-up/curbside. After I checked in I waited about 20 mins and I still hadn't received my order or an update. The restaurant wasn't busy, so I thought I'd call to see if my check-in hadn't been processed. Upon calling, the waitress informed me that they are unable to provide pick-up service and I would have to walk in and grab my order myself. Which seemed odd, because when I arrived she was smoking a cigarette in the parking lot. (So that means there was enough employees to take a smoke break, but not enough to provide pick-up service to customers.) When I went inside, there were 3 employees (cook and 2 waitresses) and about 3 tables total filled in the restaurant. Honestly, it seemed like they just didn't want to walk outside. She forgot my drink, and didn't provide the best service. I don't mind going in normally. However I had my 1 year old sleeping in her car seat that I had to take in with me and I was in my slippers! The whole reason I ordered pick-up was because I didn't want the hassle of carrying my car seat while also trying to carry our food/drinks. I usually don't go to IHOP, but I received a gift card and thought I'd try it out. They serve small portions, and don't allow sauces to be added on the online menu. Food was mediocre. I rarely ever leave a negative review but I'm going to. The plum Lane IHOP was terrible this last time I went to it. They were out of so many things you would not even believe. It took us three chances to even get an order of stuff they were not out of and even then they have no hamburger meat for the hamburger so they had to substitute cut up steak. That was literally the only good part. I come to IHOP when I crave loganberry crepes and loganberry butter and the different syrups. They do not have the different syrups anymore and they were out of all of the loganberry everything. The waitress was not apologetic about it at all. She didn't even seem to care. I'm not the type to start complaining and making a scene so I didn't. My friend was hungry and we needed to eat so we just tried 3 or 4 times until we finally found something on the menu they did have and even that we had to substitute different things for the things they still didn't have that either. I've never seen this before. And I have never seen a waitress who could be so apathetic and unapologetic for it. I also love IHOP coffee. Nope. Not even the coffee was good this time.
