disappointment regarding my recent dining experience at the Oyster Bar Restaurant in Atlantis Casino. As a longstanding patron, I have always held this establishment in high regard, but my most recent visit was unfortunately subpar.Upon our arrival, we were pleased to see the new renovations. However, the quality of service and food we received thereafter was not in keeping with the high standards we have come to expect from this restaurant. We experienced a significant delay before being attended to by our waitress or anyone else When she finally arrived, I requested shrimp scampi for my wife with a substitution of pasta in place of fries. The waitress inquired if we wanted cheese, but she did not clarify that it would be an additional topping or incur an extra charge. Consequently, we agreed under the assumption that it was included. I also ordered the calamari steak, but no explanation was provided regarding its preparation. After a lengthy wait, our meals arrived and did not meet our expectations. The shrimp scampi turned out to be fettuccine Alfredo with Alfredo sauce, which is contrary to the traditional preparation of shrimp scampi. Additionally, the calamari steak was deep-fried, a detail that was neither mentioned on the menu nor communicated by the waitress. This lack of clarity and miscommunication was quite disappointing. When I raised the issue with the manager, she confirmed that their version of shrimp scampi is indeed served in a creamy afredo sauce, which is unconventional based on our extensive dining experiences.Furthermore, we were surprised to find an additional charge for the cheese on our bill, a cost that was not disclosed by the waitress at the time of ordering. This experience has highlighted a concerning lapse in communication and service quality. Clear communication regarding menu items and any additional charges is essential to ensure a positive dining experience. We hope that the restaurant can address these issues to prevent similar occurrences in the future. We have always enjoyed dining at the atlantis oyter bar, and it is our hope that these concerns will be taken seriously and...
Read moreThis is an old favorite of ours since living in Reno, so it was on my list for must go-to. I invited several family members to join us for a late lunch on the SkyBar. They've made some stunning improvements to the the whole level. Since there were 8 of us and they do not take reservations or have wait list, we waited about an hour, so we brought our appetite. The service started out mediocre, since they were busy, but eventually we got our beverages. The waiter was certain to upsell us on whatever he could. One ordered the "extra" crab in his Louie for $15 (I could actually swear that he said it was $14 BTW). That salad was no bigger than the other on the table. We try not to make a stink at this lovely gathering, but the waiter insisted it was twice as much 🤯. I requested a different combination for my Pan Roast, he said of course, we can make any combination. There is NO mention of the change being extra charge. I had crab and scallop, rather than all crab or scallop and shrimp. I anticipated paying the all crab price. When the bill arrived, this came with a $15 upcharge. Once again, the waiter insisted that I had MORE than I would have had with one of the other combinations. I disagreed, and he does nothing but argue. I tell him he was dishonest by not bothering to mention it anyway, but he has no response except I got "extra". He's a liar and it's a terrible policy and way to treat clientele. Do not bother to add anything. Also, set your expectations somewhat lower than in the past. I happened to find a photo of a standard Louie from 8 years earlier, which blew the doors off the current Louie. Atlantis is no longer on my list of places to visit when we go to Reno. There are too many other great places to go, and they're not the only Pan Roast in town. JA Nugget in Sparks is VERY generous with their combination...
Read moreExcellent on all fronts. The sushi is exceptional, the menu items imaginative and varied, and everything the four of us enjoyed on this, our second visit, was delicious. In addition to the all-you-can-eat sushi, which is an incredibly affordable way to go, we had quail egg shooters, asian pear cold saki, and a hot saki (I can't remember which kind). The appetizers offered with the all-you-can-eat sushi include miso soup (more complex than your typical Asian restaurant serves), cucumber and/or seaweed salad, potstickers, calamari rings, mussels, and an Asian chicken "nugget" (far from what generally comes to mind), among other things. I'm not a sushi fan, but I tried the San Francisco roll with tempura shrimp, avocado, and unagi sauce, and it was really good! I ate the whole roll, and I really appreciated that the seaweed was very thin and didn't overwhelm the flavors. The several rolls that our group had, which included the Fireman roll, the Dragon roll, and several others, were all reported to be outstanding. Green tea ice cream and chocolate mochi followed, with ginger ice cream and strawberry and mango mochis also available The service here is impeccable: attentive, professional, and with a discreet presence (our water glasses were always magically full, and used dishes swept away without us even realizing it). Warm wet wipes were offered before and after our meal. Our bottle of Asian pear saki was presented with full sommelier service, table side ice bucket included. The atmosphere is appropriately understated elegance, but the surrounding slot machines detract. Overall, a mustn't miss experience, which we will...
