They pack way too many people in here, there is a woefully-inadequate waiting area (take a hint from Red Robin on their large lobby with ample seating and standing space), everything feels awkward and cramped, their booths are not comfortable, and the wait time is ridiculous. Our party was called in an hour ahead of time, and there was nothing ready until over an hour after we got there and checked in, totaling about 110 minutes we waited for a table. I was in a party of 10 and they are not properly equipped for large groups of people, which I didn’t know before we got seated. They split us up across 2 booths since they don’t have tables and chairs, which was awkward, and they have these booth table extensions, the first of which was broken and almost caused everything on the table (plates, food, drinks, birthday cards) to fall on the floor. Multiple food items came out wrong but we didn’t say anything because it was a birthday party. My food in particular: I ordered the all American cheeseburger, and I ordered it well done (no pink). The burger was not shaped for the bun and was falling apart, and portions of it were warm red and almost all of the rest of it was warm pink. The fries were soggy and unseasoned. I was hungry, so I ate it, and I didn’t want to disrupt the party, but I paid for it later. My stomach was tore up for the next 14 hours with terrible nausea and a splitting headache. The mashed potatoes were extremely lumpy, the blue cheese dressing for the salad was totally tasteless… it was a terrible experience.
The only saving grace for the food was the rolls with honey/cinnamon butter and green beans. The wait staff was helpful but somewhat unattentive because it was so busy. The manager was nice but there were other issues that caused problems at the end of the visit.
This is an extremely unfriendly space for the elderly and anyone with physical disabilities that requires a walker or wheelchair; I know this because the birthday we were celebrating was a man I hold dear who was turning 79 and uses a walker.
I would strongly not recommend this establishment, and I will never return here for any reason. This is my third negative experience with this location. I do not understand all the positive reviews for this location; they do not match...
Read moreI like Texas Roadhouse, I have eaten at many locations across the country. But when it comes to the Reno NV. location it's like spinning a roulette wheel. Sure that food tastes great but what you pay for is not always the portions, I normally take my food home and I order the 16 oz ribeye. Some days I know I get 15 or 16 oz but here's a great example of today I'm pretty sure it maximum I'm looking at 13 oz maybe 14 oz. This is unfortunately becoming a pattern. Today I had a ribeye to go container with the steak fries and I decided to scale it because it was a bit light and the steak definitely was on the smaller side. With the container it weighs exactly 16 oz and that is with the steak fries which is probably about a quarter of a pound possibly as much as a third of a pound for the fries. The steak was ordered rare. Therefore it would not have lost almost any weight while being cooked. We all know potatoes are pretty heavy, at minimum with the steak fries in the container this should weigh somewhere between 21 and 23 oz. I have never dined in on the Reno location. Maybe they give you bigger portions when you dine in I have noticed that with some restaurants. What I'm frustrated about is if you are going to sell a 16 oz steak then please make sure it is a minimum of 16 oz. If you have to charge one dollar or $2 or $3 more then do so, what I know is I have eaten in Oklahoma and Texas at the Texas Roadhouse and I have to tell you every single time I have to get a to-go box. Let's face it is 16 oz steak plus the fixins is just simply too much food for almost any person. However That is not the case in the Reno Nevada location. After you're finished eating the same meal that you order at other locations you are looking for a snack or maybe a dessert. I don't know if the answer is you need to bring a scale with you and have them weigh the steak out before you buy it just to make sure that you're not buying a steak that is 20% smaller than what you paid for. If I wanted the 12 oz steak or the 13oz steak then that is what I would have paid for. If I order a 16 oz steak please make sure I have a 16 oz...

The famous Texas Roadhouse franchise has made its way to Reno, located on the south side of the city, close to Highway 580 and U.S. 395. It’s the only branch in the area, serving both Reno locals and tourists headed toward Lake Tahoe. Its popularity is evident—whether you arrive during peak hours or not, expect to see groups waiting for tables. I visited on a Thursday around 4 p.m., well before the dinner rush, and while solo seating was available quickly, larger groups were still waiting. For weekend visits, I’d highly recommend using the waitlist feature on their app before leaving home to save time.
As soon as you sit down, you’re greeted with their iconic fresh-baked bread and cinnamon butter, a true highlight of the meal. Pro tip: don’t hesitate to ask for a box of bread to-go after your meal—it’s just as good at home.
They also offer Early Dine specials Monday through Thursday before 5 p.m., which make for a solid value if you want to enjoy a hearty meal without overspending.
For my main course, I tried the 6 oz Sirloin steak, one of the menu staples. Cooked medium, it was juicy and tender, and topping it with sautéed mushrooms and fried onions added an extra layer of flavor. The staff even split it into two dishes for easier sharing. Meals come with two sides, with choices like steak fries, Caesar or house salad, butter corn, and steamed vegetables. I went with the butter corn, which was hearty and flavorful, and the steamed vegetables as carrots and broccoli, which leaned a bit on the salty side.
The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, decorated with Texas-themed elements, but with added touches unique to Reno: military tributes, snow mountain motifs, Lake Tahoe, and city icons. The friendly and attentive staff added to the positive dining experience.
That said, long wait times and occasional inconsistencies in food quality can temper expectations. Still, visiting on weekday afternoons lets you take advantage of their specials and avoid the worst...
