According to some dictionary a chalet is a wooden dwelling with a sloping roof and widely overhanging eaves, common in Switzerland and other Alpine regions. I'm sure there's a reason they call this the Swiss Chalet and I'm sure it's ironic. From the outside it looks like one of those scary dives where some crack dealer will try to rape you and some crack fiend will save your life. I honestly have yet to find a truly scary bar in Reno like that, and this is no exception. It is actually a rather nice, warm locals joint with interesting, old characters mixed with young folk, not exactly hipster but blue collar, working class types who don't drink PBR because it's cool. They actually sell Busch beer. Now that's a dive bar, not some pretentious hipster dive bar, but a real dive bar. Ten years ago, most bartenders in Reno were either middle-aged to old dudes or middle-aged, hot women. Now, it seems, most bartenders are hot, young women with a few skinny college dudes or hipster tat sleeve dudes. Coming here is like going back in time ten years. This is what most every bar in Reno was like ten years ago. It's a time warp. And it's cool. And no hipsters here - yet. In fact, you could probably go back twenty or thirty years and just imagine walking outside and the motel parking lot being filled with old 80's Cadillacs and Buicks and tiny...
