Discovery museum and it’s management are knowingly and intentionally, lying to families and the public about current federal CDC mask guidelines. They claim on their website, that individuals 5 years or older, who have not received the Covid shot have to wear a mask per CDC guidelines. There are no such CDC guidelines in place mandating such a irrational policy. When contacting the management of this museum. They provided zero documentation of any such guidelines from the CDC currently in place. They openly admitted that the forced masking policies in place. Where what “they” the museum thought was appropriate, not the CDC as they dishonestly claim on there website. Based on “there own” interpretation of the science. There interpretation, what? So the decision TO FORCE A 5YR OLD CHILD TO WEAR A MASK and family's. Is being made by medically ignorant, unqualified, untrained individuals at the museum. Correct? Yep. These individuals are not epidemiologist, they have no medical training, or expertise that would ever qualify them to force children and families to wear a mask, or make any medical guidelines that involve peoples lives. But that’s exactly what the museum is doing. Motivated and driven by personal political agendas, irrational and unsubstantiated logic.

The museum does have a legal right to make up their own nonsensical mandates. Per the loop hole put in state directive 052. By are soon to be governor. But instead of being honest with families and the public. About the fact that the museum and its pseudo epidemiologist staff, are the ones forcing 5 year-old’s and there families to wear a mask. Not the CDC! Instead they lack the courage of their convictions. By choosing to be dishonest, cowards. By hiding behind fraudulent, illegal claims of federal CDC guidelines that don’t exist. Why if this was truly about doing the right thing, about protecting families and children. With policies and guidelines that are backed by factual scientific data. Why would the discovery museum still feel the need to lie to people and not be honest and tell them exactly what they’re doing? Pretty obvious...

One of the first outings in a public space with my daughter since the COVID-19 pandemic was to The Discovery. We are members, and we were excited when we learned that The Discovery would be reopening, with limited capacity, on the weekends. We decided to make a reservation ahead of time, which I highly recommended given the limited capacity. It also made it easy upon our arrival. When we arrived, we were greeted, and welcomed with smiles from the staff. They also briefly went through all of the new procedures in place and explained some of the limited closures.

As we explored, we enjoyed all of the open space due to the limited capacity. We were also pleased to see the friendly staff regularly cleaning as guests left different areas. It has always been very clean during previous visits but seeing the additional steps that were being taken allowed us to feel more comfortable as we made our way to different spaces. We brought our own hand sanitizer but noticed sanitizer stations in the museum. The other guests there were also respectful of space and social distancing. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

The current public health crisis has impacted us all. The Discovery provides our community with a safe, fun way to continue learning and spend time out of the house as a family, which is essential during these difficult times. It is also a great way to spend the day as it gets cooler outside. We look forward to...

This place has gone down hill. It is so dirty and grimy. Especially the 5 and under room, not to mention the mining car track has been broken for months and months, it is sharp hard plaster that could injure a child. Smeared finger prints everywhere, and they just opened so you know no one cleanser the end of the day. The carnval of curiousities was a big joke, a corn hole game and a big wheel to spin, a couple more carnival like games. Very boring for my 4 yr old. The water feature had no floating toys to play with, just the big doughnuts that sink. Just so disappointing. The price has also gone up and you get less safe things to play with for little ones. I got a refund and left within half hour. It has been months since we have been here because of all the things that were still wrong today. We will not be back.

Thank you for your reply Discovery. There is no way that this place is cleaned nightly. I was there first thing this morning and the hand rails for the stairs were gooey and sticky, the legos are filthy. The whole place is dirty. As for the age level of the exhibits, a carnival is for all ages and my child loves them. This exhibit is poorly done, you could at least have some bright colors in the room. Like a carnival. There is nothing that my 4 year old hasn't seen a million times to learn from. We had passes last year and I have complained before about the same broken and filthy things with nothing ever...

So much fun for all ages at @TheDiscovery! We visited with our family over the holiday break and could have spent all day here! We made snow globes, tested our boats, enjoyed interactive exhibits, water play and more! The Discovery is a home for informal science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) learning. Through hands-on galleries and exhibitions, and a robust array of educational programs, The Discovery connects learners of all ages with opportunities to explore a wide variety of ever-changing topics, all designed to inspire curiosity and further investigation. Make sure to stop by next time you are in Reno! —- #thediscovery #reno #midtownreno #stem #familyfun #nevada

Really wish this place opened earlier. You could beat the heat an spend more time here. Honestly there is so much to explore and spend time doing you would need to come back 3/4 times to get it all in. Some exhibits lacked info or instructions, didn’t work, had no one around to help, or was so busy even waiting 30 mins we had to skip. I do recommend that they get another car for the little kids area. That seemed much more popular. One car with 5/7 kids all trying to use it. I’d also recommend a staff member there to encourage parental involvement. There were kids who were outside the age range making it difficult for the little ones to actually play an parents acting like it was free daycare just sitting scrolling on their phones. While other kids really wanted a turn with the car. Parents need to work on teaching kids to take turns. The wood shop was another favorite, but we missed it an didn’t get to it till late. Meaning we didn’t have much time to fully use its area to its full potential. You could easily spend the day in there with all the choices. We had 10 mins unfortunately due to time constraints. The parking lot is a decent size but by the time we came out at 1130 it was full. If I’m ever in Reno again I would definitely stop here. Staff overall were great.

We were gifted a membership for Christmas. We finally went today. We spent 3 hours there. There's definitely lots for kids to do. I don't have toddler littles, but I very much appreciated that there was a play area for kids age 5 and younger only. My kids are 11 and 6, and they loved it. Gift shop has tons of cool stem toys, some I haven't seen before! The ONLY reason I didn't give 5 stars is so many exhibits were out of order, which typically is understandable but both our kids were at the museum end of December 2022 and my 11 year old stated that most of these were broken back then. Regular maintenance should be routine since kids are generally rough on things, so to see things sit for months without repair was disappointing. I would love to suggest that in the puzzle room or maybe on the map, you list the answers to the puzzles. We tried a few for a while but couldn't figure them out. 😆 We will be back again for sure.
