I recently dined at Dopo Pizza & Pasta during Reno Food and Drink week, and my experience was a mixed bag. The restaurant was understandably crowded, given the event, but the lack of adequate staff left much to be desired. With only one server and one bartender, it was clear that the owner had not allocated enough resources for one of the city's biggest food events. While there might have been unforeseen circumstances that caused this shortage, it left a noticeable impact on the overall dining experience.
On the positive side, the pizza I ordered was surprisingly delicious for a hipster midtown pizza joint. The spicy pepperoni added a flavorful kick that I thoroughly enjoyed. However, the portion sizes and prices of the pasta dishes ordered by my tablemates left them disappointed. They felt that the servings did not justify the steep price tag of around $20 per dish. This disconnect between portion sizes and prices could be an area that the restaurant needs to address in order to meet customer expectations.
Another aspect that left me dismayed was the wine pour. With just a mere 2-ounce pour per glass, it felt like a disappointment. In order to get a standard-sized glass of wine, I had to order two servings, effectively doubling the cost. Considering this was during Reno Food and Drink week, one would expect a more generous pour to match the occasion and elevate the dining experience.
Given these mixed experiences, I have concerns about the long-term viability of Dopo Pizza & Pasta. While the food itself had its moments of delight, the issues with staffing, portion sizes, and wine servings raise doubts about the restaurant's ability to consistently deliver a satisfying dining experience.
In conclusion, I would rate Dopo Pizza & Pasta a 3 out of 5 stars. While the pizza was tasty and had some standout elements, the overall dining experience was marred by understaffing, mismatched portion sizes and prices, and disappointing wine pours. It is my hope that the restaurant addresses these concerns in the future to ensure a more consistent and enjoyable experience for...
Read moreI'd like to start by saying this place makes an incredible pizza.
I know the word 'perfect' is all but impossible to achieve in the eyes of some but I'm putting it out there ...this pizza is simply, perfect. The sauce has a certain sweetness, tang, the cheese offers an ingredient to balance the sauce and the crust ...is unreal.
If you're a fan of softer edges for your crust, this is your spot. If you're not a fan, no problem. Make sure to submit your suggestions on 'how' you'd like your pizza cooked and they'll line it up without question. The amount of cheese and sauce on top was perfect. When I made my order online, I specifically asked for extra sauce and they made it happen.
When I opened the box, I wanted to eat the whole thing and refrained... which is great because now I have leftovers. I should have had three, maybe even, two slices but I couldn’t stop eating the food. I had four. I’m still really full but it was completely worth it. As Joey once said during an episode of 'Friends', "I'm not even sorry."
This city has a lot of people who favor (insert the only spot they get pizza, their friend's place because... they're friends or whatever reason they chose the pizza place they're headed for the night) pizza place. I used to be one of those who'd only go to the same 4 spots until I realized that I was probably missing out on a lot of great food. Case in point, Aaron (owner of Food+Drink) opened this spot on St. Lawrence Ave. not too long ago and I'm just now making my way over here.
I look forward to ordering food from this...

Walked into this place while it was empty and was sat right by the kitchen.. Additionally, in the empty restaurant the waitress sat another couple directly beside us which I felt was unnecessary, in an empty restaurant.
Food serving size was small, I had the fettuccini, not to say it wasn't good but for the price I felt robbed..
I ordered the Godfather cocktail which was 11$ and had the alcohol content of a capri sun...
The best part, me and my date ordered the mousse and the waitress put pepper corn on top, and after me and my date ate a mouthful of peppercorn and told her, she then scraped off what peppercorn she saw and replaced it with the chocolate balls that was supposed to be on there, ignoring the peppercorn that was pushed down from the original scoops we took, and then CHARGED US for that terrible experience. I would say a brand new dessert would be the LEAST she could do, probably comp it too would be a wise move, seriously....
Working in the service industry I would feel humiliated serving a mistake like that let a lone charging for it. This is honestly the worst experience I've had at a restaurant since I can remember, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
First impressions are everything, I hope you guys can train your staff better for...
