Edit- A year since my first visit - I live in Alaska, but I travel quite a bit, I happened to be in Reno, and instead of getting the free breakfast at the hotel, I wanted to get coffee and breakfast elsewhere and the first place that came to mind was handcrafted coffee. This place is still doing great. The coffee was hot, tasted great. The service was fast, when not busy, these ladies will bring your coffee to your table. I don't see this often, way to stand out in a good way. Chloe made my coffee, I recognized her as she's been working here for a while, she made my coffee the first time I've been here. In a day and age where people go job hopping and collecting unemployment checks, that's very respectable, that she's staying at one spot. I hope that she is compensated well, especially if she's training the new folks. The music at the shop was not disturbingly loud and was helpful in setting a great atmosphere. To all the people working here, thank you for keeping this place so clean and welcoming. Thank you for the VIP customer service treatment and thank you for putting your good energy into the coffee you make. Y'all are amazing, I will definitely be back! -Dopio Tim

Edit -a few months later: I happened to visit Reno on a business trip and this was the first place that came to mind when I wanted coffee. As always, great coffee, great people, great place. I've been around the US stopping in at different places and it's sad to see some places aren't taken care of. Not so with Hand Craft Coffee! The place looks very clean and taken care of. It's tough to find people that do a good job. The employees here do a great job, in all aspects; the place is immaculately clean, tables not sticky, chairs not dusty, the environment is a friendly vibe with inviting atmosphere. -Dopio Tim

This place is awesome. I love a different coffee, something other than the usual Starbucks or other burnt garbage. The coffee served here has a great flavor, it's locally roasted, and the place is convenient. There is a spot in front with free parking. Also, if you happen to stop by, tell them Dopio Tim...

ADA Accommodation Request Denied

I visited this coffee shop for a business meeting and requested that the music volume be lowered to accommodate my disability-related hearing needs. I explained this was an accessibility request under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The staff refused, stating it was ā€œthe manager’s preferenceā€ to maintain the current volume level. When I clarified that this was a disability accommodation issue and that people with disabilities should have equal access to public spaces, they apologized but maintained their refusal to make any adjustment.

ADA Background: Under federal law, businesses must make ā€œreasonable modificationsā€ to policies and practices for customers with disabilities. Adjusting music volume is typically considered a reasonable accommodation that doesn’t fundamentally alter business operations.

Impact: I was unable to conduct my business meeting due to the excessive noise level making conversation difficult for someone with my hearing needs.

Looking Forward: I will return in the future and hope that this business will become more familiar with ADA requirements. Proper staff training on disability accommodations would benefit all customers who need accessibility support.

This review documents an accessibility barrier for others who may face...

VERY good coffee. Taste is Comparable with the human bean, but definitely better than Starbucks. They close at 5pm, so if I’m in Reno before they close this will be my new go to place. I really enjoyed going to a coffee place I could get out of the car and walk into. Excellent customer service! My wife and I showed up well after closing. The owner herself met us at the door with a very welcoming and pleasant attitude, invited us in and made us a couple cups of VERY good coffee. I’ll always choose customer service over a drive through.

To the owner: I had just been released from the hospital after surgery and had the worst coffee craving ever. You opened your doors to us and made it so I didn’t have to drive all over Reno trying to find a good coffee place. I asked for anything caramel, and you provided me with the best coffee. Thank you so very much.

Went back again. Coffee was fantastic, and the staff were exceptional. When I went place was packed with people, which tells me this place is good...

I’ve spent my whole life in Reno and have tried every coffee shop. I tried HCCC over the weekend and was blown away and came back the next day for more. All the other coffee shops in Reno are basically serving flavored milk and it’s not common for the beans or milk to be burnt but HCC makes the BEST lattes in Reno, hands down!! Every sip still ha frothy milk and the flavors aren’t super artificial. I’ve lived in Italy and Spain, some of the best places in the world coffee and HCCC is as close as it gets. Not to mention the cute aesthetic and vibe, in-house coffee mugs, super friendly baristas and good music. No need to waste your money on the rest of Reno’s mediocre coffee shops, HCCC is my go to.
