I love Italian food. As a relatively new resident in Renton, I’ve been on the hunt for that special local place that becomes your go-to Italian spot … the one that feels like home. And now I’ve found it with ‘Angelo’s Pizza & Spaghetti’ on NE 4th Street in the Renton Highlands area.
Tucked at the east end of a tiny strip mall on the south side of NE 4th Street, you could easily miss it. Thankfully, I didn’t. On one ridiculously crazy traffic-laden ride home from work my office in Bellevue, in the pouring rain, I decided I was way too road raged to go home and cook, so I pulled in.
Parking is hard to find because whoever built this tiny strip mall did not provide enough … especially with such a popular restaurant. But all is forgotten the moment you walk in. Angelo’s is a small, cozy little restaurant with TVs and red-checked tablecloths, and aroma inside is mouth-watering.
I was immediately greeted by the owners Tommy & Lisa Pallis. Tom is the behind the counter making non-stop pizzas and Lisa handles all the tables. [There’s also a young brunette gal behind the counter with Tommy but I’ve yet to get her name.] These warm, inviting folks all treated me as if they’d known me forever. I am already addicted to their spaghetti and meatball dinner. If I can ever pull myself away from those meatballs, I’ll finally get to try their famous pizza. And I love, love, LOVE how FRESH their dinner salads are … so deliciously crisp.
I’ve found my go-to Italian spot that feels like home … thank you SO much ‘Angelo’s Pizza & Spaghetti’ for being in Renton the...
Read moreI used to live up the street from Angelo's about 15 years ago and we would pick up dinner @ least 2 times a month. Without fail manicotti and garlic cheese bread. I have only been able to get back to this area a few times in the last 15 years to pick up dinner since we moved south and last night was one of them. I was so excited to order and eat my manicotti imagine how disappointed I was when I called & they told me they didn't have any last night, UGH. I can hardly get up there to order and you deny me of my manicotti!! I was so bummed. So while I had never ordered it I decided I would try the cannelloni instead in protest. I wasnt going to leave Renton without @ at least my garlic cheese bread and something. So the cannelloni and garlic cheese bread headed back to Lakewood with me and although it was barely room temperature I broke into the cannelloni as soon as we got home. Now I want to know how the heck I am now going to decide what to order next time???!! It was SOOO GOOD!! When I lived in the highlands I remember it taking a few visits before staff recognized us and were very nice after seeing is a few times so I could tell nothing had changed on that end. I felt out of place and in the way when I got there but nothing a big tip couldn't change and again well worth it for the food. The same gal server (possibly owner too, sorry, unclear) that helped me years ago was there as well as the owner was cooking like he did years ago. Nice job folks and the garlic cheese bread is still the best thing this side of the...
Read moreI have been living in Renton since 2007! Never had seen this small family owned restaurant before. I searched “Italian near me” and the first place that pops up is Angelo’s! I’m so happy I found this place! First of all, the service was wonderful! Lisa, helped us and and was amazing! I have never had such a personable experience at any other restaurant! We started off with our house salads, I took the risk and ordered blue cheese dressing (I don’t like many blue cheese dressings) and I was so happy to taste it! It was homemade by Lisa! It was so creamy and delicious! My spaghetti carbonara with shrimp was also amazing. They make the sauces as you order them, so the pasta and the sauce get to probably simmer together and it was just delicious! The side of garlic bread was also perfect, buttery and not too garlicky, but perfect enough to get that garlic taste.
Lisa, She let me try some of their homemade meat sauce, it was 100% homemade! You can taste the condiments the meats, the tomatoes! She also let me try a slice of her own pizza! My husband and I are huge pizza pizza people so to be able to try it ahead, it was amazing! And her pizza only had bell peppers and mushrooms!
Im glad we came here honestly. One of the best experiences and homemade Italian food I’ve tried! We will definitely be coming back!!
I have to mention I am writing this at 11 am while eating my left over Spaghetti...
