Was here for just a Friday with the spouse after a long work week. They took me here as a surprise and a surprise it was. Had their take on edamame, not a traditional Thai dish, but they made and Thai infused oil to spin it and it was almost addictive. I had the Pad Kee Mow and spouse had the Pad Thai and just wow. The Pad Thai was the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and sour. Personally would do more heat (spice) but the spouse loved it. Honestly may get it next time. The Pad Kee Mow was so good too. The noodles were all coated in sauce and the chicken was not over cooked and chewy but perfectly tender. Haven't had great Drunken Noodle like that in quite a while.
While yes the food was great the most shocking home run was from the bar. I had not planned to drink here as it's cheaper to imbibe at my own residence. However the spouse got an old fashioned that the served with a dried lemon, cinnamon stick, and star anise that they table side scorched with a hand torch. With it's one giant ice cube and perfect balance, the flavor of the liquor, bitters, and playful smoke from the torched star anise was just a delight. I saw other patrons with just as fun adult beverages as well so I will definitely partake next time.
In conclusion, if you are in this part of Richardson and want an exciting sojourn into Thai cuisine that is authentic yet accessible, I encourage to have a great...
Read moreMandatory 20% tip!!! Please dont come here unless you're okay with being forced to pay a mandatory 20% gratuity despite how the food and service is. When my family and I (a total of 4 people) finished our meal, we asked for the check. The total was about $79. We reviewed the receipt to ensure accuracy and noticed a $13 tip already included on our check. I respectfully asked the waiter about this, and he said "Yes, for full service we charge a 12% gratuity. It's even on the menu". He pointed to the menu as proof. There was no explanation as to what full service was from the waiter or in writing on the menu. We just order a few appetizers, a rice dish and a couple of noodle dishes. There were only 4 of us, we weren't a big party of people that needed to be waited on hand and foot. I've never been treated like this before. It ruined our entire experience because we felt taken advantage of and left the restaurant feeling hoodwinked. We are GREAT tippers and would've given 15%-20% anyway. But there's a difference between GIVING a tip and having your money TAKEN from you with no explanation and having no say so in the matter. Needless to say, we will never...
Read moreMy group of 7 visited last Friday's lunch, and we were disappointed to find there were no large tables available, only two small tables for 4. While waiting for a bigger table, we decided to sit separately at two small tables, hoping we could move once a larger space opened up. Being seated separately, with the tables divided by a walkway, made it impossible to talk or enjoy our meal together as a group. When the table next to us cleared, we tried to shift over but were told another group had “reserved” it. Oddly enough, no such group showed up, and only a couple came in to take that spot while we were still eating.
I personally ordered the Pad See Ew with beef, which was nothing special—just overly salty. My friend food is the have the same issue too. The food overall was underwhelming.
To top it off, we were charged a 20% service fee, despite sitting separately and receiving no group service. It felt unfair and frustrating. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re expecting good group accommodations, flavorful food, or fair service fees.
Definitely will...
