Lunch meet up on Saturday, June 28, 2025 went smoothly and fun with my fellow foodies from Asian Grub of DFW group on Facebook. Overall, I highly recommend trying their baked whole catfish Signature dish.
What I recommend: XL Baked Catfish $75 Gỏi Xoài Tôm Mực - Mango salad with shrimp and squid Sò điệp đút lò - Baked scallops
Neutral: Crispy Fried Pork Intestine served with a house special dipping sauce - This is a childhood favorite snack of mine but the restaurant here doesn't make it crispy enough. If you come to Orlando and want to try a truly crispy fried pork intestine, let me know! I have a place that makes it addicting for the lovers of this dish.
What I disliked: Bê Thui - Smoked veal sliced and mixed with onions, fresh rice paddy herb, and lime juice served with a special sauce made specifically for this dish. (My mom's homemade version and the version sold at the Garland Catholic Church makes it more meatier and better. The sliced veal is so thick here.)
Salted Fish Fried Rice $15 (Unless you like eating food high in sodium, otherwise steer away from this dish.)
Bò Lá Lốt $25 - char grilled ground seasoned beef with lemongrass flavor wrapped with Piper Sarmentosum (lá lốt) leaves (The meat filling here is so dry and lean. Back in Orlando at the places I like that makes it, the herbal ground meat filling would be moist and fatty, not so dry and lean like this...
Read moreOur experience at this restaurant left something to be desired. While the Bun Bo Hue itself was decent, although the broth was a tad sweeter than our preference, the real issue was the subpar customer service. Firstly, despite there being only two of us, the server struggled to comprehend our separate orders, requiring multiple clarifications before finally getting it right. Secondly, when inquiring about the source of the water served, one of the servers provided an evasive response that cast doubt on their truthfulness, rather than giving a direct answer. Lastly, instead of an itemized bill, we were merely handed a receipt displaying the total amount, making it impossible to verify the accuracy of...
Read moreNew grilled cat fish in DFW alert ‼️: Grilled cat fish is moist on the inside, and has a crispy, flavorful char on the outside. The sauce (aka mắm nêm) enhances the natural flavors of the fish, very authentic taste (intense taste), the way I like Grilled grounded beef wrapped in betel leaves (aka bò lá lốt) is very juicy. Overall: Recommended for authentic Vietnamese dishes, 5/5 #dfwfoodie#dfwasianfood#vietnamesefood#grilledcatfish#bòlálốt #cánướng#mắmnêm#asianfood
