The Halal Guys — Restaurant in Richardson

My experience was not as I expected it to be. If you are a traveller, be ready to meet inpatient staff. Yes, I got it, they are trying to maintain a quick service. But they also need to take the time and communicate with each customer. I had an order for 4, had my order written down, and there were 2 people waiting in the line. There was no “Order Here” sign, so I went to the cashier. No one of the 5 staff members asked “ how can I help you?” I was totally ignored until I realized how everything is done, so I became the last one in the line. I showed the lady the written order, so she knows that I have several items. Once I read the first one, she took the plate and passed me. I was trying to tell her which toppings I want on the plate she had, but she was asking about the next order. I thought she wanted to know my order and take care of the additions later, but this was not the case. She stopped me to tell the other staff member to put the sauce vertically not horizontally. The man was a little confused, so she had to repeat her explanation. I told her that I am traveling and this is the first time I order here. Yet, nothing have changed. I was given my sandwich with chicken only, no sauce, no lettuce, no tomato. The lady was rushing, and she did not care to take my order or even listen to me. She was not communicating even though I tried my best to ask about the sauces and additions. I was asked to pay but I had to tell them again that I did not get what I want. I was given the additions and the sauces of the sandwiches on the side, and I had to unwrap the sandwich to put them. So, if you are a traveller, do not have big orders, it is not important for your kids to eat because people with big orders are interrupting the flow of the service. Other than that, the food was tasty, super fresh, and the rice was cooked to perfection. The hot sauce was extremely hot, which was not communicated. Thanks god that I had it in a tiny cup and got to taste it before adding it to the sandwich. The place is super clean, and the restrooms are well maintained. Outside seating is also available.

UPDATE: I went to same restaurant again and I noticed that they worked on solving the issues they had before. The new gentlemen working there did a really good job explaining the available choices and they were very friendly. They...

Update: Since I first visited this location 9 months ago, things have literally gone down the drain here.

The food tastes absolutely horrible. It was so bad that in the years I have had Halal Guys, this is the first time I was not able to finish my small platter (purely because of the taste). The chicken was either overcooked on some pieces or undercooked. The rice was dry and the lettuce was soft. This is no where near the Halal Guys quality. Secondly, I ordered a lemonade and I said light ice. The crew gave me 2/3rds of a cup of lemonade. Never has this happened to me before. The service. Staff has changed and the service has gone downhill a lot. Over the years, I order 3 platters, one for me, one for my wife and one for our kids. I always ask them for an empty platter as well because I need to split up the food for my kids. This time when I asked for one, they said it costs money so they can't give me an empty platter bowl. I said ok, it costs like 5cents, here is 50 cents, can I have an empty bowl? And then they called a manager out who said "no we can't give you the bowl, if you really need it, it's $3!!!!!!" Really? This is absurd. Cleanliness. The outside seating area looks like it hasn't been looked at in months, inside looks like they used a mop to clean the kitchen and used the same mop to clean the seating area. Streaks of dirt all over the floor in different places. Soda machine looks like it has definitely seen better days.

If you like Halal guys, take my advice, don't ruin your opinion about the chain by going to this location. Many more to chose from.

I want the owner to read this review please teach your employees how to behave to the customer . I really don’t write any reviews but this one I really wanted the owner to know what your employees doing in your store . Me my husband and a baby in a car seat went in there on 6/29/2023 between 9.30 pm to 9.45 pm why I give you this long description is because I want you to look in the camera and see who is the guy and the lady who was serving food . I bought a reg platter and after he putting the lettuce tomato and rice he gave the plate to the lady then he whispered something to her in their language about me and I asked for 3 spoons of onion and bell pepper she only put 2 and I asked her to put one more she said I will be charged extra for the onion and bell pepper I showed her the board and said it says $0 for onion and bell pepper she said that’s only for one scoop and if I ask for extra scoop I will be charged extra I said ok no problem put the extra scoop and it was the guy who made her to say this and they both were trying to insult me . I only asked for 3 scoop not the whole bucket they giving me attitude like I am there to beg for food , since 2019 we been coming to this halal guys regularly and this was the first time we had such an unpleasant experience . The guy the register was nice and he understood the situation and he said he is not gonna charge me for that. paying for that extra onion and bell pepper is nothing for me I even give them tip but not anymore it’s the attitude from both the guy and the lady made me feel they are trying...
