The staff here has zero personality. This is a no frills establishment that serves seafood.
Update 7-11-2022 Went here for a quick lunch today because it's been several months since visiting the spot, and I had a taste for catfish.
It didn't take long before I realized (remembered) why I try to stay away from this place.
I approached the bar and as usual never receive a warm welcome. "Are you ready" was the greeting I received and it was not the 1st time. I ordered the staple 3 fillets with fries and a drink. She took my order, placed the receipt on the bar for me to signed and quickly joined her fellow worker at the counter between the food prep and the cashiers station. With their backs turned, I waited for 2 to 3 minutes to simply ask "Do I need a number on a stick or do I just go sit down"? Granted, the two ladies looked back at me several times, but did not bother to ask if I needed anything. When I order, I always ask, "Extra Tarter Please", and of the 20 to 30 times I've been there, they never deliver on the request, not to mention, when the waitress delivers the food, I politely ask for extra tarter after food arrives, it comes about 50% of the time, and I usually find myself back at the cashier booth looking at the backs of the women working, waiting for an opportunity to ask (again) for extra tartar sauce. DAMN !!!!!
Let's be honest, the food here is exactly the same as all other fried fish basket joints: fish N Tails, Big Shucks, Ah Shucks, The Flying Fish, The Fish Shack (Plano) and all the others, nothing different. The only separation that can be delivered is price and service. Although their prices are on par with the rest, the service SUCKS and is by far the worst in my opinion!
There's another Fish N Tails a few blocks up 75 off beltline I believe, and probably well worth my money to go the extra mile to avoid this service.
Note to self, no matter how close this place is to work, don't waste your time again or money again!!!
Hopefully your experience...
Read moreFood was great as always! Really good! The only issue I had was when I placed my order at the counter. I noticed an automatic 18% gratuity added to my bill at a SELF-SERVICE counter restaurant. While I don’t mind tipping and I gladly gave them a $5 cash tip. My opinion is that this is deceptive and very excessive because I had to place my own order, get my own drinks/ refills, get my own food containers, seat myself and get anything else I needed. I told cashier I used to be a server but only paid $1.75 plus tips but I provided a full service experience. She was clearly agitated and begrudgingly took it off. I still tipped in cash just not the $28 for a self service counter order. they wanted. She replied that they were paid a good hourly wage and that was extra and divided amongst staff. She stated I should understand if I worked in service? Hello I gave a $5 cash tip. As a server I provided full service for a non-described amount and sometimes nothing. That entailed seating customer, taking drinks and appetizer order, bringing food, ensuring drinks were topped off, cleaning the table, ensuring everyone was happy and well taken care of through their meal. The total experience! Am I wrong in thinking this tipping thing at self service businesses are getting out of hand? I wonder how many people have paid the hidden gratuity and dropped money in the glass tip jar on counter...
Read moreAnother place that says they will accommodate allergies but really doesn't. Called ahead to ask if we could get crab legs and strip boiled in plain water. They said yes so, I placed my order. I know. I should have checked, but wait for it. I got home, opened the bag and had a bag of boil full of Cajun seasoning which isn't bad...if you are not allergic to pepper. Allergic, like will die. Not white people can't handle heat. So, I take it back and tell them I ordered without pepper. Th e lady I spoke to was SUPER nice and the only reason for 2 stars. I waited on the patio because the place was packed. (Mothers Day). She brought it out and asked me to check it. I opened the paper bag and could see there was no visible pepper. I gave her a $10 tip for her trouble and concern for trying to make things right. Came home and opened the plastic. All they did was rinsed the food. So, I won't be back. Not because of the waitstaff. But, because of the cook. I waisted my money there. I can't eat crab legs and my kid can't eat pepper. I am not sure if resturaunt owners realize it or not but, pay has not adjusted for the cost of living expenses and eating out on Mothers Day is an expense. We chose your resturaunt because of the views. I waisted gas twice, plus threw away food that was not consumable. No. I...
