I'm sorry to say that I have mixed feelings about Rio Bravo. The food truly is delicious and authentic, however I have been a few times now and have some concerns you should be aware of.
I have only ever been on a weekdays for dinner, and the music is always incredibly loud, if you want to be able to have a conversation with somebody, you can go ahead and forget about it. I understand on weekends wanting to have a lively atmosphere, but at 8:00 p.m. on a Thursday It's incredibly loud.
Last time I came I brought my 3-year-old daughter on a Monday I believe, and we had to leave because the music was just too much.
The service is a bit lacking though it is friendly. For as dead as it was when I was there it took quite a long time to get a bar drink, and much longer to get food. I was by myself as well.
And when I was done eating, I put my plates to the end of the table, and when I say I waited a long time for my check, I am not exaggerating.
I had to get up and go find the manager in order just to get my check.
So here's what I would say, the food truly is good, If you have PLENTY of time to spare and are a little hard of hearing and want to just sit and enjoy your meal then I would say go for it.
If you are on a time crunch, avoid this place...
Read moreTook family to dinner and the atmosphere at first was okay, kinda loud. There were people doing karaoke so understood that, however it never stopped. Our server sat us right in front of the stage. When we realized the singing was going to stopped as asked or move to another table because our chairs and table were vibrating from the loud speakers, our server said the other tables were dirty and he’d have to clean them. Our server could barely hear us when taking our orders, he had to get so close to each of us to hear us. The food was so bland, the only thing I really enjoyed here was the rice. We finally couldn’t take it anymore so we asked for our food to go and our sever brought over the to go containers and we asked for our check to pay and he said ok and went on to clean tables, we waited 15 minutes before finished cleaning an area to bring us our check. Would definitely not recommend this...
Read moreWent for lunch during the week and there were only a few tables of customers. Rio Bravo is a large open room with a large bar, lots of tables and a stage for live music. The food is good and the price was great - about $8 for the burrito plate. Flavor-wise, the food is different than say El Chico which I think is bland. Service was fine. Waitress spoke Spanish and another waitress interpreted for her since I don't. No big deal, though. Chips and salsa are complimentary. Both were good. Salsa is mild. Atmosphere is ok. Restroom was a little stinky, and the building was remodeled to open the room up so the floor is rough in places. One massive tv - think half billboard size - , 20 other wide screens (50's? Maybe). TVs on the perimeter, all the way around. Not sure how Rio is when the place is full and band is playing and the alcohol is flowing. I imagine it's not kid-friendly. Probably go...
