I’ll start off with what I liked, because being a downer on everything is never good. We ordered two drinks and two food items (green Thai tea, jasmine milk tea, spicy calamari and Cajun popcorn chicken) The staff was friendly and the food/drinks were given quickly (although it wasn’t very populated since it was the afternoon on a Friday).
There were swings on the inside that added a fun, unique touch to the interior. The menu is big and on the wall so you can spend a some time looking at it instead of staring behind the staff worrying about not deciding fast enough lol.
Now onto the bad part that makes me not want to go back despite their delicious menu. The jasmine milk tea was average, the green Thai tea was a bit too sugary. “A bit” is being generous. The calamari and chicken—while the inside tasting fine—the outside was…EXTREMELY salty. Like high blood pressure salty. We couldn’t finish the food because of how much salt was on it. It made my stomach hurt from how salty it is.
Perhaps we are more sensitive to that but I am very surprised that no other reviews are talking about the excessive salt on their food as well as the sheer amount of sugar in some of the drinks. It’s just too much. Because of this, I am not inclined to go back since the rest of their food will probably be the same (I.e. diabetes inducing, blood pressure spiking..no thanks).
It’s a shame because the menu looked so good. But the salt induced stomach ache of taking a few bites of chicken and the headache from the sugar in our drinks isn’t worth it. I feel bad for my kidneys. I shall be treating them with a gallon...
Read moreI am obsessed with Tii Cup. They are locally owned and only in MN. Every time I travel and drink boba elsewhere I always want to come back to a MN favorite.
The Richfield location is my favorite, I love walking here during lunch. My favorite drink is Jasmine Milk Tea snow with Boba and herbal jelly. The tea is fragrant, not too sweet, flavorful and the boba is always cooked perfectly. The special thing about this location is that they serve Taiwanese street food, my go to is the popcorn chicken- you get a choice of original, spicy, garlic, curry or Cajun- I always get a mix of the garlic and spicy, have yet to try the other flavors. Be forewarned, spicy is actually spicy, so ask for less spicy if you just want a kick. It comes in a paper bag, similar to what one would get when ordering mini donuts but with popcorn chicken, 2 skewers to jab a piece of chicken with. I always ask for a little bag to put my chicken in so I can easily hold it, eat it while drinking my boba and walking. It’s really meant to be the “street food” experience.
There are 2 ways to order, at the kiosk or at the counter. There is a bar table along the window with chairs to sit, swings long one wall and a few tables closer to the back. Most usually take their boba and go.
Additional tip, be sure to get a stamp card, once it’s filled you’re eligible for a...
Read moreI've visited Tii Cup - Richfield twice now and both times the service was beyond terrible. The guys working, don't greet anyone, this time they stayed in back for the better part of 6 minutes before coming to the register. I was asked "what are you having". No questions asked. Didn't give the total, or offer a receipt l, just walked away. Started two drinks then disappeared into the back again. Eventually the guy on the grill came out and started cranking out drinks. The energy in the place is bad. After 18 minutes of waiting for a bubble tea, the guy places my drink on the counter as he's walking away. No apology for the time it took or thank you for coming in. It was madding. I'm from an era where customer service was always a big deal. Needless to say I will not return to this Tii...
