Ordered takeout here for the first time tonight. We ordered some staple dishes and we were told 30 minutes to prepare. I arrived at 30 minutes on the dot with the order waiting. In and out, no complaints. There are tables to dine in, but it's a small strip mall style restaurant so capacity is probably not more than 30 or so.
The chicken on a stick was flavorful, grilled well and not dried out as it tends to get at some places. Initially I didn't think much of the wonton soup. The broth tasted very thin from what I'm used to, but eventually it took on a very prevalent ginger flavor and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. There was very little other than broth and wontons though, only a few slivers of green onion.
The Mongolian beef was very good flavor-wise and peppery, which is how I like it, but the sauce was watery. I don't know if they forgot the cornstarch or what happened. Next time I come here I intend to try their "Hot Spicy Beef" whatever that is...
The General Tso's was excellent, again with a very pronounced white pepper flavor which sets it apart from others I've had in the area. Also not very sweet, which was appreciated. The sauce was sticky without being cloying. I would definitely come back for this and would recommend it to any connoisseurs of General Tso's.
The pork fried rice and chicken lo mein were both satisfactory no-frills Chinese takeout. I would have liked a little more depth of flavor in both, but Lin's Garden has me spoiled there.
All in all, a great little spot to add to the rotation. I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent flavors of the main courses. I'm excited to try a few of the other standards and see how...
Read moreI was so excited about this Chinese takeout place. I had read so many positive reviews online. When I arrived, I discovered that the entire place was in poor housekeeping condition. The tables were dirty; the chairs were dirty; the floors were dirty; even the walls were dirty. There where lots of bugs like gnats, flies, and other insects flying everywhere. All of this is concerning when food is being prepared in a facility. My friend and I decided that we would just get the food to go, so it wasn't such a big deal if the dining area wasn't in great shape. Unfortunately, later on we both ended up getting stomachaches from the food that we ordered. I don't really have a lot of confidence in this restaurant at this point. If you go for a meal, be aware that the state of the place is certainly far from clean. This may present health risks, but the best way to determine that is by checking with the...
Read moreAlthough the China House is a small restaurant just down, in the same strip mall along Rte 8, from Gibsonia's Atria's Restaurant, for delicious Chinese food from a large many-entried menu, each entry of which comes in more than enough food for a hungry person's meal, the China House can't be beat. We have been ordering take-out there almost since this fine little restaurant opened, and never have we been disappointed with the amount and flavor of whatever we've ordered. Although we live close by and thus order take-out, the restaurant also has a bright, if plain unassuming atmosphere with plenty of tables for those who prefer to eat their delicious Chinese food there. One can also, if one wishes, watch the Chinese chefs at the Woks on the stoves do their thing. A great place to eat, or to...
