Denny's — Restaurant in Richland Township

Was just there today about 3 pm...so not quite a lunch rush or dinner. Wasn't too busy in our section when we went in. (About 3 other tables). We had 2 adults, 3 children and an infant. First of all he was going to squeeze us into a 4 person booth until we mentioned pushing 2 tables together. We sat down...he disappeared for 10 minutes and came back asking our drink orders. A coke, sprite, smoothie and 2 waters....I also ordered my 2 youngest their food (so they can eat asap)along with 2 extra plates so they can share eachothers...15 minutes later we got our drinks...my fiance drink was the smoothie flavor but not the consistency of one at all. He drank it anyway. Meanwhile part of my daughters food came out ...My one daughters salad came first and the others grapes (both i wanted to split between the 2..hense the extra plates that we didnt get) we had no utensils still...so we asked for them. 10 minutes later nothing. Had to ask the bus boy..he immediately brought them. This is now about 35 minutes sitting and our order wasn't taken. Server finally takes our orders 40 minutes sitting there... 3 burgers...1 slamburger...1 bacon bourbon burger(mushrooms on the side)...1 (build your own) grilled chicken, cheddar cheese/bun/sauteed onions,bacon and bourbon sauce...extra sauce on the side. Also ordered loaded tots for an appetizer. Meanwhile...3 other tables that were seated after us were served their drinks and food before us....1 table even left. 15 minutes later (About 50 minutes sitting there) our loaded tots came. There was no white queso sauce on it so we asked for some to add. Riiight...10 minutes later he brings it out...tots were then cold. 20 minutes later our burgers come out (another waiter served us)...fiances immediately started falling apart when he picked it up. Son was actually done right. Mine came with no bourbon sauce at all (I ordered with extra sauce). Told him and he said he will bring some...he went and told my waiter...waiter comes 15 minutes later and asks how everthing was...i told him i needed bourbon sauce....oh he told me but i forgot....I'll go get it he said....15 minutes later came back with the check ( still no sauce). I asked for a box because by then everyone is done eating and my burger was cold...thats when he realized i still didnt get my sauce. $60 check was...

Overall, I like getting breakfast at this restaurant. I hate to rate this so low, but this is my experience today around 11 AM. I didn't get to eat here. They may have been a little busy. However, the counter area was empty, and I would be very generous in saying the dining room area was maybe half full.

I waited at the host area for at least 5 minutes before even being acknowledged by anybody. When I was finally greeted, the interaction was pretty abrupt. "Just one?", Yes. "Table or booth?" , No preference.

That was the entirety of any conversation. She walked back to a booth, put the menu down, and was gone before I even got there.

I sat and waited another 3 or 4 minutes until someone stopped at my table.

I don't believe that he is a server because I observed him vacuuming the empty side of the dining area as i was waiting to be seated. If he was a server, it did not appear to be his section. He greeted me and offered to bring a drink.

Since I was coming up on 10 minutes to get any service, I mentioned it all to that young man and told him I wouldn't be dining there today.

Of course, he apologized and mentioned being busy and all that sort of stuff. It certainly was not any fault of his, nor any of the waitstaff. This falls solely on the management.

If I had been a secret shopper, I'm sure this would have been a colossal failure, and likely heads would roll. I know that it would have been that way in the couple of restaurants that I was management for, quite a few years ago.

C'mon, Denny's, you can do so...

When I say I thought the 60s mentally was over. I try and defend all cultures and nationality because I strongly belive it tak3s a villages of different cultures to be a great human. This almost been an horrible review but the Management Tean and our Wonderfully waitress Ava turn the entire experience around.

My family and I was seated in a section with our waitress who is a lighter color sister(Caucasian). It was pretty busy so we was patient UNTIL..... we see our same waitress sit a family of 4, gave them silver wear, took their drink order, filled their drink order and went to clean another table. Yes you heard me right!! She did all this before giving us silver wear and taking our drink order. When we asked her politely is our waitress coming soon, she said she's on the way and rolled her eyes as she walked away!!! What sad is, she was out waitress, Management confirmed it lately. 🤦🏾‍♀️

We politely got up to go but ask i was walking out i turn around and ask to speak to the Manager, because rudeness will never get a pass with me!! I told Management what happened who was completely shocked at the waitress behavior, but when she turn around and saw the atmosphere I think she understood silently. After giving the manager my grievance she wanted to make it right, amd she did. We hot place with a WONDERFUL Waitress named Ava. Ava went above and beyond and really turned an horrible experience around!! And This Is Why I Love...
