Good Afternoon! Came by Cheddar Jackson for lunch. I ordered a Smoked Robinson, and my partner had a Fat Boy Basquiat. They serve Boylan Soda Products, and Mexican Coca Cola as well. The Smoked Robinson had Gouda and Country Ham, it was lighter on the stomach than the Roast Beef and Cheese of the Basquiat. I didn’t taste much of the Hot Honey Dijon sauce on the Smoked Robinson. The Fat Boy Basquiat was very good we opted to get it with red onion as well which gave it a bit more flavor with the Roast Beef, Cheese, and Horse Radish Sauce. My favorite part was the way the bread was handled, it wasn’t over saturated in garlic butter or a version of Texas toast. It was slightly brushed buttered and placed in a panini press. With our orders we also got pasta salad, a blueberry muffin, and a chocolate chip cookie. All of which were good and a nice treat. Now the part of this experience that wasn’t so pleasant, was the wait and the music. The store has a vibe of a retro diner with a modern twist, but there is very limited seating. The music coming right out over customers is Reggae, but not just any Reggae like some pretty vulgar stuff. Which is fine in your own time, but when you are waiting for food, hearing a song about personal interaction with female genitalia doesn’t help with a person’s appetite. No where in the entirety of the store do I see island inspired or in the menu. Bless the chef’s heart, because you can tell she puts love in every sandwich but the speed of the kitchen is on island time. The sense of urgency isn’t there until your order is literally the...
Read moreIt's grilled cheese but it's not. It's more of just a cheesey panini. The panini I purchased wasn't very pretty kinda like something I would see opening up my wrapper from Hardee's. Very little meat options...where's the bacon? How can you even consider opening a grilled cheese restaurant and not have a bacon grilled cheese?! Owners must have never put bacon in a grilled cheese before. Lastly I got the Ghost Pepper jack sandwich or whatever it was called that cost $10. That only consisted of bread, cheese, onions.......I paid $10 + tax for bread, cheese and onions....no bacon, no tuna, no ham, no pepperoni.....just cheese and onions. Now it does come with free half cup of soup for dipping so that's a plus.
Final thought: Panini was good though overpriced. Next time I'll take my $10 and get an entire loaf of bread, 1/2lb of bacon and 1/4lb of cheese and make a better grilled cheese at home. Owners might need to check out youtube and study up on what makes a real grilled cheese sandwich. Keep in mind I can get a panini anywhere in Richmond for less and it will have a...
Read moreMy fiancé and I tried out Cheddar Jackson after seeing a post on the Richmond Vegan Community FB page. We were so excited to try this place out because it sounded so good, and they did not disappoint at all!
I personally love the vegan options and knowing that I have an option. I am not vegan but stay away from some meats and dairy so this was perfect.
They had both vegan and non-vegan broccoli and cheddar soup. I was skeptical of the vegan at first but the chef/co-owner quickly popped in a bowl for me and let me try it. I loved it so much! I also got a non-vegan soup to take home and try and I still enjoyed the vegan better!
I ordered the Duval Sisters sandwich and the Brooklyn (with vegan pepperoni) and both were amazing!!!
Everything was delicious! Try it all and make sure to leave a review to support and spread the word for this awesome family...
