DANGEROUS FOOD SANITATION ISSUES We ordered delivery from here. I looked at all of the reviews and picked the highest rated Thai place I could find. Whoops. To be fair, everything tasted great until my husband bit down into something as hard as a rock. I heard it. I was sitting several feet away and I could hear the crunch. So then he started looking through his food and started finding some surprises. It was like a scavenger hunt from hell. The below egg shell piece was the first find, followed shortly by a piece of plastic (both are pictured below.) It’s as if his food fell on the floor and was scooped back in. This was in a noodle dish. We got tired of this little “what is in my food” game and threw it all out. I asked for a refund through the delivery app and called the restaurant to inform them. I was very nice about it but I’m not sure that the gentlemen on the phone full grasped what was in the food, though he did offer a refund. I have not been able to get the queasy feeling to go away and would NEVER go back here.

I stopped by this restaurant when I was trying to kill time and I must say I’m happy I ended up going. The customer service was wonderful I felt really welcomed as soon as I walked in. The restaurant was very clean and not really busy at the time which I appreciated. The man that greeted me was super nice and explained the specials of the day. The food came out quickly and was hot and delicious. I ended up ordering a seafood hot pot. This was my first time having this dish and I was not disappointed. The seafood was fresh juicy and flavorful. I also ordered the Thai basil spring rolls and they were SO fresh and delicious. The avocado sauce they serve with it made it even better. The hostess saw I was running low on the sauce and before I could ask for more she was on her way with it! They knew the perfect times to check in on me and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I will definitely plan to go back next time I’m in the area.

Our party of 4 was seated immediately but waited over 30 mins for our food, with the server not really checking in on us during the entire duration. We were also given two joint tables when we could’ve sat at just one, especially since there were other parties waiting to be seated that ended up just leaving. When the food arrived, the cabbage and vegetables in the tom kha soup were still very crunchy and undercooked. Another friend also ordered the tom yum with chicken instead of shrimp but it was still served shrimp in the end. The pad thai and mango tilapia were delicious at least and I have no other complaints about the food! The restaurant also serves plastic water bottles instead of glasses, which was fine until we were charged for them on our receipt when we thought it would be free like any other place. I might have just been hangry at the time, but I might explore other food options in Richmond before returning back here.

I've ordered food here 4 times. The first time I thought this was my new favorite Thai restaurant and recommended it to all of my friends and colleagues. Since then, I'm not sure what happened.

Twice I ordered the Thai iced tea and twice I never received it- although could be the fault of the delivery driver, the restaurant should do a better job of ensuring that the drivers receive drinks for orders.

The first time I ordered the Studio fried rice- the chicken was delicious chunks of meat- perfectly battered and cooked. I've ordered it 3 more times and the chicken has gotten worse each time. The second time I ordered it there were several pieces of chicken in it that were hardened and inedible. Third time even worse. I ordered it again last night for the fourth time and every single piece of chicken was completely hard and chewy and entirely overcooked with no meat or anything resembling chicken. I'm not sure if they switched to thin strips of chicken since my first visit or someone is just doing an awful job of cooking it- the sauce is so tasty but now it's so hard and chewy nobody could enjoy it. The rice was delicious though. Every noodle dish I've gotten from there has been delicious as well. Every curry, every appetizer- simply scrumptious.

My other biggest complaint is the inconsistency with the spice levels. The first time I ordered a hot dish and a medium dish and the medium dish was hotter than the hot dish. The third time I ordered a mild and a medium dish and the medium was hotter than anything I've ever eaten in my life. Every bite had heaps of chili flakes caked on. It was so delicious though I tried to power through. Last night I ordered a mild and a medium. The medium was still a little too spicy for medium, but nothing like last time. I'm not afraid of spice by any means, but the inconsistency is just too much here.

I will give this place one more try before I give up on it and I will change my review to 5 stars if things have improved, but as for now I'm a little disappointed in my once favorite...

Had a lovely experience at Thai Studio, which is under new ownership as of this month. Some new interior decor and really flavorful dishes! We had a party of 7 and every person on the staff was knowledgeable and dedicated to making the experience great. Everyone in our party had a different dish with raves all around. Everything came out nice and hot. I personally had the tilapia with Thai mango sauce and it was one of the best Thai fish dishes I've eaten! Nice tilapia filet cooked to perfection - flaky and moist. The mango sauce was delicious with cilantro, scallion, sliced mango and a great sauce (flavorful fish sauce in there for sure). Served with a side of perfectly cooked rice and stir fried veggies. The crab rangoon is so good - little purse pocket presentation, hot and delicious. Someone else had the rock fish and raved - crab fried rice was a big hit - pork noodle soup look devine and the pork stir fry with basil tasted great! The gentlemen that runs the register/takes orders was helpful and attentive and a real asset to the business. The new owner Tony is really nice and also has another Thai restaurant in Ashland - you can tell this is his passion. I would go back for that...
