City Beach — Restaurant in Richmond

I took my young Kings out for a late night outing, didn't have much in mine but to hang out and as a parent talk to them because kids tend to be out of our reach at times....just a little random thought for you. However, I wanted to try this place out because they had pool and what appeared to be arcade games. So we entered the restaurant and not knowing if we needed to be seated or seat ourselves. I didnt want to just take it upon myself and seat us so I waited at the door for about 5-10 mins watching the bar tender watch us. She NEVER even spoke to us when we entered. Ice been to places where its empty and people are at the bar BUT the bartender still takes the time to shout "hey welcome, find a seat where ever you like and someone will be with you". NO, we didnt get that.

I had to walk over to the bar to ask "do we seat ourselves or someone seat us". She then proceed to tell me "oh yall can seat at the bar where ever you like". I ask her "are the booths not available", thinking about the fact I 2 under age babies with me and its illegal to sit anyone at a bar that under age, anyone should know that ESPECIALLY a bartender. I immediately ask her as well, "how will the waiter or waitress know we need to be service if I just sit down" knowing I had to wait to long at the door and I didnt see not one waitress in sight.

Here's the kicker! She tells me with a VERY snazzy tone" when you start by having a seat"!!!! I take my surveys to heart and although whom ever my be reading think I'm lying, I AM NOT! I tell the waitress what happens and how if my kids weren't so hungry I would have walked out. It's a too many restaurants, new or old that I can go to in Richmond where i do not have to step foot in a place that have people like her working there, too many places! Our waitress saved the day and even compensated with taking one of my appetizers off and apologizing for the bartender. Although I cant see myself going back I'm grateful to our waitress for her positive attitude. I ordered their crab burger with fries. It was worth the price as far as size goes but the sauce that comes with it wasnt to tasteful. My babies ordered thier bacon burger and they were happy, which is all that matter to me. Oh and thier Old Bay season chicken wings...

My first experience, Came to watch the UVA UNC game I asked server what was the specials on drinks, she said they had none, I asked what alcohol do you serve? She cluelessly looked around and said we have "crown royal" I said "well what about whiskey" she said yes we do, I asked what kind, she didn't know. I then said well do you have Jameson she said yes I said I'll take that and a pint of beer. After asking the server to change the TV to a certain game, I noticed a sign about while a college game is on you can get a pint and shot for $7. I asked her why wasn't I presented with that deal when I asked?, she replied "oh, I didn't see that sign". I then asked for a manager, when he arrivedarrived, he didnt announce himself he simply said "are you the guy with the beer?" After saying yes, I replied "I've already ordered and been charged is there something you can do for not even being aware of the deal AFTER I askedasked?" He replied no, "I'm sorry you didn't see the sign" I replied so there's nothing you can do to compensate this inconvenience? He said no I'm not you already ordered... Then after a back and forth exchange which became aggressive I left, which resulted in being followed outside and told to never to visit his establishment again....I can't help but to think...was this a racial thing that made his energy with me become so aggressive? And as a customer service worker why didn't he try to defuse the situation before escalation?? Besides the horrible waitress and service from management, the food was also below sub par. Sorry I even stopped by, with poor leadership comes poor serviceservice, plus in 2018 I thought the color barrier would be the LAST issue..... NEGATIVE STARS!!!!!!! AND I WILL CONTACT HIGHER...

My boyfriend and I went here for a Superbowl party, very chill place in the back, there was games, pool table and limited seating areas it was crowded and it was to be expected in a sport bar & food was good however the issues became the next day... whoever was our waiter needs to be retrained. She swiped our card 6 times for our bill, all totaling 3 times more than what we spent. One was reversed (it was around 50.00) however our bill was still three times more. My boyfriend went to the bar the next morning- to address the situation and see what happened in hopes they could reverser the other charges however they said they already submitted all 6 separate charges and they couldn’t refund us! We had to do a dispute it with our bank and got our money back this way few days later. I wouldn’t recommend using your card here or starting a tab, a small mistake like this can put people in bad place specially if they didn’t have the funds to cover the charge and overdrawn their account or take their gas money for next day. You just never know what your customer financial situation is we just happened to look our bank account statement the next day and catch it when we did. if you do plan on going here after reading this review...
