The food. Awesome. Very fresh. Presentation great. Sidenote, having lived in Deutschland the last two years where I had no access to Generals Tso's, it's hard not to order it here every time. When Generals Tso's is done well it is very good. It is done very well here. Kids meals. Burger and corn dogs are two of the offerings. Expensive by kids meals standards (about $9). Staff. We have been there three times and had a great experience the first two times. The first time it was my wife and I and are three kids aged 12, 10, and 8 during the busy dinner rush. My kids are well behaved so we were a pretty quiet table. I can't recall the name of the server but she was attentive and professional. The second time we were there with another couple and ate super early like 1630. We had Gabby as our server and she was gregarious, fast, and attentive. By far one of the best staff members there and you'd be lucky to have her. The third time we dined here it was just myself and my three children and another couple and their two children. So three adults and five kids. When I went in to inquire about a table the staff member I spoke with responded with a facial expression that made it clear I was a pain in their butt. We had interacted with this staff member previously and though they have never been warm, they had never been off-putting previously. The bathrooms. Not great. But also not much Sticky Rice can do with the space this building provides. They are downstairs, cramped, and the two units share a communal sink outside which is located next door to one of the three kitchens at this restaurant. The bathrooms have a grungy feel to them so maybe HGTV them from an interior decorating perspective so they can be the best they can be with the limited space.

I was recently in town for the first time with my family and we decided we needed some sushi so Sticky Rice was our place to go. This place has a relatively nice atmosphere but more run of the mill and not necessarily trying to impress. We got in right away because there weren't many people dining in at the time but after being seated the service was nearly non existent. We finally got to put in our order after waiting 15 minutes and then getting up to go to the kitchen to find our server. After food arrived we then had to wait for our silverware for another 5 minutes. Once we got eating we then realized we didn't have napkins so after waiting another 5 minutes to get our servers attention I just got up and went to the bar to grab them myself. There were no visits to see how the food was after we got it and once we were done of course there was another long wait to get the bill. The food was good but it was completely overshadowed by the terrible lack of service. It felt like the server was either uninterested in his position or had total lack of knowledge on what a server needs to do. On a plus side he was friendly when we did get to interact. Go here for the food but you may be disappointed by the service received.

Absolutely love sticky rice! I make sure to try to come at least once a month and even more if we have guests in town. The bucket of tots are always a hit with everyone we’ve brought. I love that they also give a vegan dip for the vegans in your group. Great place to come for some sake bombs and a party! Make sure to check it out on Fridays when it’s just a blast at night. For the rolls, I am a huge fan of the veganzilla- best vegan sushi roll in RVA by a long shot! I also love that they have a bunch of other options that are vegan that I can pair with my veganzilla. For vegan 72, I got to try their udon noodle soup special and it was heavenly! I really hope it can be a long term menu option šŸ¤žšŸ½ For the service - I have never been disappointed. Friendly, accommodating staff and they check on you pretty regularly even on crazy busy nights. For vegan 72, I was about to order the udon noodle soup and I loved that the individual who picked up the phone was like ā€œhey up to you but the tempura on it might get really soggy if you take it to goā€. I heeded the warning and brought my husband into the restaurant instead. Didn’t regret it at all

I’ve always enjoyed sticky rice but who goes into a restaurant to order food and doesn’t get any food. As a former server I understand mistakes can be made but this ā€œmistakeā€ was whack and handled terribly. I came in last night and I first ordered miso soup and a drink with a server that had brunette hair with bright pink chunks. I got those. I then ordered another drink and a Philadelphia roll. Waited almost 40 mins. I asked my server where the roll was. She asked me if I still wanted it… like??? Nah suddenly the oxygen around me got me full. I told her yes. I wanted it. She came back and told me the roll wasn’t going to come out because the ā€œticket got lostā€. I knew that was a lie because my drink didn’t come out either and that would be a separate ticket that happened to also get lost? When I asked if my drink was gonna come out her answer was ā€œIt can. I can put in the order for youā€ I was like… I don’t want a new order I’m wondering where the original order was. She fully forgot to put my orders in and didn’t offer anything to fix the situation until I told her I was still hungry and then offered me tater tots. Noo. I came for sushi :/ then I just decided to leave and asked for a check where she overcharged me for way too many drinks and I didn’t even get comped for the drink she completely forgot about. I came for a good time with friends, everyone else got what they ordered and I sat there with miso soup and a drink in my tummy and left with that....

I really wanted to love sticky rice because my friends have been hyping it up to me. First when I was looking at the kids menu and they had oodles of noodles, which I wrongly assumed would be good quality noodles, but we were charged $7.00 for 50Ā¢ top ramen and tater tots. It was honestly laughable that they really served my baby top ramen and didn’t think to give me a heads up that it was ramen noodles I could get from Walmart. The kids menu was very average besides that. I know I should have said something while we were there, but then when we were served our adult sized udon noodle bowls I was sorely disappointed by the serving size compared to the price we were paying. There were not very many shrimp in my coconut shrimp udon bowl and honestly there were more onions, peppers, and carrots than anything. My husband’s beef bowl was about the same, minimal protein and over cooked beef. It was $16 for each bowl. The sushi was a good serving, but it wasn’t good. Very bland and not what we expected. The staff was friendly and it was a nice atmosphere. They do automatically add gratuity to your check, so another reason I will probably not be returning. I tip every time (and generously since I know my baby is messy) , but I personally do not like it when a tip is automatically...
