Overall, really good food, the drinks were good, and had no issues! The ONLY reason I dropped a star was the bartender we first met just seemed kinda pissy? Nothing outrageous, just seemed like he was bothered by us asking questions (had recently relocated nearby) and had asked what they would recommend/their favorite drink. Was told that they don't drink (again, nothing against that you do you) but just no suggestions on what's popular, what they sell a good bit of, just kinda tossed the cocktail menu in front of us. Once we had ordered our drinks (bone snapper or something similar, which was AN AMAZING drink), we were asked to show our IDs. It's perfectly normal, and we had no issues, but since we had just relocated, i had JUST gotten my VA license (had arrived literally less than 2 days previously) and my buddy had not yet, which we warned the bartender (I also pulled out my MD license and pointed out how new my VA one was). Was told he couldn't serve him and asked if he'd want anything else. I've worked in both Liquor stores and bars previously, so we aren't assholes who want to just have people lose their jobs or Liquor licenses just so we can drink, but if you got someone with a new ID and their previous states ID stating they're 23, and the other expired one says they turned 21 over a year ago, I personally wouldve let it slide and just served them. All of that said no hard feelings, I wanna be rational but money was tighter, and I was trying to celebrate a birthday with a close friend and kinda just had to eat, finish one drink then run out to try to find something/where else to spend the night. That novel just to say, their food: AMAZING, it came quickly and was amazing. Their drinks: awesome would definitely go and drink there again... I just can't help but be put off. Will maybe try again another night with a different bartender and (to their credit š ) valid IDs! If you can do that I would absolutely recommend them and will try to visit and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLoved the vibe of this bar until near closing. I used to listen to GWAR a lot in the early 2000ās and it was so cool to see this place.
Decor: lots of memorabilia of the band, including props, photos of costumes/shows, masks, etc. make sure you take a good look at the ceiling and walls when youāre there, thereās so much to see!
Food/drinks: just average bar food with a couple vegan options. Some of the dishes have really cool names.
Service: you order all drinks and food at the corner of the bar. The guy we were ordering from looked like he hated his life, he seemed so over it. It was a bit of a bummer, especially since my friend and I were there to celebrate my bday, but we just brushed it off and sat in our little corner. I took off 3 stars for service because of the aforementioned experience and also because as my friend and I were leaving, (it was 20 minutes before closing) we got up and like 3-4 employees started shouting at us that we needed to get out. We were already putting on our coats and putting our drinks away when they started shouting at us. There were still probably 15 people in the bar and we had kept to ourselves the entire time, we werenāt drunk or loud or rude in any way. Iām not sure what was up, but it was extremely off putting. Iāve never had this experience in any bar before, even Sticky Rice will let you leave without harassing you unless youāre not leaving at all or being belligerent.
Iām not sure if it was just an off night, but the vibes were really good up until we started to leave. We had a great time otherwise, so it was really disappointing being shouted at as we clean up after ourselves by putting the food in the trash and put our glasses on the bar counterā¦
Iād probably go back again, but I think next time Iād just have one drink there and move on to another bar after. Also, someone brought their toddler in at some point (probably around 10pm), which was extremely freaking weird. So apparently...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt is a Metal bar, so if you don't like metal music dining in may not be for you. I'm experimental so it was interesting. There wasn't anyone there when I went so they told me to choose where I sat. Wasn't a fan having to come back to the bar to order my food but I do understand because it wasn't busy. I ordered the Mcduckets as an appetizer and the Poutine burger as my main. They came out at the same time which shouldnt happen so I was a little disappointed. The Mcduckets came with 5 pieces for 11.25 which isn't too bad, considering it has duck in it, but i felt like they were cooked a little too long. The gwar-b-q sauce saved them from being an upset. The Poutine burger that I ordered with 'some pink' had no pink in it which threw me off a little. Feel like if I'm asked for a preference then the standard should be met. Otherwise, why ask me? That being said, this burger was well worth the purchase. Crispy fries, flavorful gravy, and stretchy mozzarella cheese for a satisfying medley of flavors and a more satisfying cheese pull with every bite. I got a side of Tots that were nice and crispy as well. Really wish I ordered 2 burgers rather than getting the Mcduckets but the name really draws you in. The creativity of the menu is definitely makes this place worth a try. I look forward to trying other dishes with creative names from here. I recommend the Mcduckets because it's an interesting appetizer and maybe It was just an off day when I ordered them. If you don't like obscenity, definitely order it to-go, but order it none the less. However, If you prefer obscenity, metal music, and good food this place possibly has everything you've been looking for in a restaurant for burgers, hot dogs, pasta, and even...
