I just popped in there about an hour ago and had the time of my life. I was really feeling hungry and weak, and I saw the good reviews on here and saw it was right down the street. Being so cheap, I got a 20 piece nuggets and fries to share with my friend. Splitting that meal three ways is about $5.33 a person. Whoever the Dj is in there needs a raise. That music had me bumping my head that music is way better than any party you can go to. As we sat and waiting the music went from Arabic 2000’s pop songs to the notorious B.I.G. I could not believe what I was bearding I was about to start jumping up and hollering I was getting even more turnt. They were pretty busy, so that good music made the wait all worth it. We got our food and chowed down at the little table like there was no tomorrow. Those chicken nuggets had a good crispy breading with jolly good peppery flavor to enhance the savory white meat experience. Them nuggets were so good I did not need any sauce, and let me tell you about those fries. I am very picky about my fries but those cooks stepped up to the plate; in fact they ate the plate and left no crumbs. If you like medium thickness bendy yet crispy fries that can be eaten all by itself (I drench my food in ketchup but this time I couldn’t disrespect the fries like that), this is the spot. In the middle of the meal I asked for some some tzatziki sauce. The man at the counter said “we don’t have tzatziki sauce, but we got white sauce and it’s better”. I obliged and he handed me two sauce containers and gave me a toothy grin, as if he knew my life was going to be changed. I dipped a fry in that sauce and all of my exhaustion from the day was cured. That fresh sauce with that dill or whatever brought a great freshness that I didn’t know I needed. I didn’t think I’d feel good after eating so much fried food, but this is not that place. I can tell they clean their fryers and season every morsel of food that will potentially hit your face hole. I felt revitalized after that meal and once I get some money I will be coming back so be...

I have my gripes about this place and the way they do pricing. I came here with a colleague for lunch; I ordered an extra meat combo platter with hummus and a drink. My colleague ordered a falafel over rice platter with a drink.

The food, mostly, is definitely very good, no doubt about that. The chicken and lamb were very tender and flavorful, and the sauces definitely hit the spot. The falafel was pretty decent, as are their fries and rice. The hummus, however, is pretty terrible and should be avoided.

With that said, I really don't like the pricing here. My colleague ordered through a kiosk and was charged a "to stay" fee, aka dine in fee, which is just crazy to me as this place is more fast food than restaurant, so you're not getting any special service. However, I paid directly at the cashier, and wasn't charged a "to stay" fee. I went to the cashier because the kiosk didn't allow me to substitute a side for hummus. The cashier said he would take care of me, but he clearly couldn't figure it out, then I was charged $4 for hummus and it was only one tiny scoop! $4 Hummus anywhere should get you a small plate full of hummus, not a measly scoop. On top of that, the hummus was not even remotely that good; only thing on the menu I don't recommend. And then, apparently, using a credit card at the cashier's register will charge you 4% for not paying with cash. My colleague paid with a credit card at the kiosk and didn't have to pay the 4%. I attached pics of the receipts to show what I mean.

Overall, I would probably return here since the food is very good, minus the mediocre terribly priced hummus, but I would just pay at the kiosk and stick with to-go. Also, the parking is paid street parking, so I might just stick with...

Saw this place on TikTok and couldn't wait to try it out. We ordered 5 different platters of lamb and chicken. Not one of our orders was correct. 2 plates were not supposed to have fries, but it did. 2 plates were supposed to have sauce on the side, but all plates had sauce on top. 3 plates included salad but had none. One plate had green sauce, but nobody asked for that. The lamb tasted more like hamburger and was disappointing. The service was not good. The cashier who served us the food was frustrated and didn't read the receipt we ordered from to get our food order correct. The platter size was large for the price. The restaurant was not crowded at all. I went to use the restroom, but the door had a notice saying "Out Of Order," so I began walking away. An employee asked if I needed to use the restroom, and I answered, "Yes." So he opened the door for me and I happily went inside. When I walked over to the toilet, it was filled with big piles of poop and no toilet water inside, and I noticed that there was no handle to flush the toilet! It was hard to get that out of my head while I waited for my food. Needless to say, I will not...

I’ve been wanting to try Halal Munchies for a while after seeing all the hype on TikTok—huge portions, flavorful food, and rave reviews. Since I live in North Carolina, I never had the chance to go until today, when my wife and I decided to take a little trip up to Richmond and finally give it a try. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the expectations. The food containers look large in videos, but in person, they’re pretty small. On top of that, half the box is just salad and fries. You get a very small portion of rice and protein, which was disappointing. As for the chicken, it was bland—pretty much just salt and some food coloring. It also had a bit of an odd smell, probably due to the lack of proper seasoning or spices. The only reason it’s so busy is likely because it’s right next to VCU. If it weren’t for the location and the online hype, I don’t think it would get as much attention. On the plus side, the place was clean and the staff were friendly, which I appreciated. Overall, I’d call Halal Munchies an average halal spot—not bad, but definitely not worth the drive for me.
