My 15 year old daughter was in your store today 06/30/24 with her grandmother shopping like they do every Sunday together but today was different because your store manager a cussed my daughter of stealing a key chain because she did not put it back in the correct hanger slot. Everyone in the store heard him cause my child of stealing. She showed him where she put the key chain but he still took it upon his self to search her pocketbook. My daughter will never steal nor does she have to. She is biracial and I really feel she was profiled today in your store. I will be contacting my lawyer tomorrow morning about this. We have money she had money of her own to buy what ever she wanted out of your store today and if she needed more money her grandmother had it. I'm a nurse and I was just woken up to my child crying over this.DO NOT COME IN THIS STORE IF YOU ARE OF COLOR. I WENT TO THE STORE 20 mints after this happened to my daughter and I made them cal the owner and all she said was let me check the cameras. Today 07:01/25 the owner told me they had a store meeting and will be re training her employees and said she apologized to my daughter. Thatâs it really your employees racily profiled my 15 years old daughter and spoke to her with out an adult present when her grandmother was still looking around the store. The manager told my daughter you can be a little detective and show me where you put the key chain. THE OWNER CLAIMED TO ME SHE ALSO HAD A BIRACIAL SON AND UNDERSTOOD MY ANGER đĄ BUT SHE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT MAKING A DOLLAR. THE ENTIRE CARYTOWN COMMUNITY NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF PEOLE WORK HERE AND HOW THE OWNER TREATS...
Read moreIf you like walking on egg shells, being judged and having your five-year-old kids reprimanded and/or looked at with sheer disgust by toy store employees for playing with - gasp - toys, then this, my friends, is the toy store for you.
For years, I overlooked the too-cool-for-school hipsters that run this place because, after all, the store has unique offerings and indie music is a.o.k. with me. However, this past weekend my son was reprimanded and damn-near lectured by two employees for putting a whistle in his mouth. They're right - he shouldn't have done that. But he's 5, and as he said, it's a whistle (what else would a person, especially an unknowing five-year-old, do with a whistle?).
Perhaps the scenesters will love this irony - we made a purchase (including the unpackaged whistle that does nothing but invite the store's primary customer - kids - to play with it), but it is the last dime we will spend there.
I know they're too cool to care about this review or I'm not on their level or whatever, but I defy anyone who doesn't buy vinyl and wear skinny jeans to enter this place and not feel the tension your simpleton ass creates for the uber-sophisticated World of...
Read moreCame in for the first time yesterday and thought everything in the store was unique & cute. But when I first came in I picked up a shoe charm and was going to get it, but as I kept looking in the store I bought a cup & a pin that was at the register so I decided to put the shoe charm back where I found the pin (I shouldâve put the charm back where I originally found it but it was so crowded in the store). As I was checked out by the guy who worked there, he asked me âDidnât you have the shoe charm?â I said âyeah I put it back.â And he had the nerve to ask me where I put it and ended up finding it where I got the pin from. I shouldâve gave him all the stuff I had back & asked him what he was insinuating? Iâm happy with my purchases, but not the service. My body is covered in tattoos that cost more than anything in the store. I donât need to steal a $5 shoe charm. Employees also follow you around everywhere you go. Will not...
