We have heard so much from our sons about LULUs for the past year so we decided to make a reservation on for a Wednesday morning. Upon arrival in the area we did get lost because if your not looking on hard, it's difficult to find the building only due to it being a Market place area downtown and the restaurant is not on the corner of the block so you can visibly see it. But we called the restaurant and the host kindly guided us to the establishment. Upon arrival we were greeted very friendly by the host and were seated. Right away I loved the ambience and decor not to mention the nice rb tunes they had playing. Our waiter Aaron promptly greeted us friendly and professional to take our drink orders. He also informed us of any specials on the menu for that day. We also had a couple of questions about the menu. We both decided on the shrimp and Grits with a side of potatoes. Food was brought out in a reasonable amount of time, which I loved. No let's talk about loving something else, the food was amazing. The Grits had just the right amount of cheese with peppers and onions. Although I'm not an onion and peppers on my Grits type of chick. I found the combination to be quite delightful. Also had my eggs over medium. What I loved about the eggs is they were not heavily salted. Which is a plus because everyone's taste buds is not for the salt. Anyway, the potatoes were fabulous but I didn't know that they had a kick of pepper to it. Couldn't finish it all because of this. Ya girl is not with alot of spice. But I still would give it a 10. Aaron checked on us and made sure everything was to our liking. The bill came and was reasonably priced. All in all. We absolutely loved LuLUs and will be back again to try their famous red velvet waffles and chicken. A++

TL;DR - CHECK YOUR ITEMIZED BILL TO MAKE SURE TIP ISN'T ALREADY ADDED! (even for a small party) I almost never leave reviews but felt like I had to for my experience here. The first issue was that the eggs Benedict ordered by one of our party came out extremely overcooked, and cold. It seemed like it had been sitting out while the rest of our food was prepared. The poached eggs were completely solid, the English muffins were soggy. The potatoes and asparagus were cold. When we let our server know she acted quite put-out. Their solution was to bring out 2 more poached eggs, but left us with the rest of the dish... meaning we were supposed to switch out the eggs ourself? I'm not sure what they expected us to do with the overcooked eggs. We had to ask specifically to have the dish taken away and re-made, but when they brought it back, there was only 1 poached egg instead of 2 (and still overcooked). I spoke with the manager. We got a lot of excuses but never a real apology. They did ask us if we wanted to replace the dish but by that time we were all pretty much done eating and the person in our party who ordered the Benedict was pretty grosssed out and just wanted to leave. They did at least take the dish off our bill, of course, but I was overall very unimpressed with the customer service for this issue. They were defensive and not gracious about it at all. The second issue I noticed later. Even though we were only a party of 3, they automatically added a tip (the sign at the front of the restaurant said tip would be included for parties of 6 or more), which of course you can't tell when they give you the iPad to sign (the itemized receipt does not show up automatically, just the total). AND the option to add a tip still pops up!!! This to me seems like not just a mistake, but purposeful. So I ended tipping double for sub-par service. The whole experience wasn't awful. We got a pitcher of the peach schnapps mimosa, which was great. One of us got the huevos rancheros and another the chicken and biscuit, both of which were great. Despite those pluses, I don't think I could go back here because of the dishonesty with the tipping issue, and the relatively poor customer service in dealing with (reasonable, I thought) complaints. Super disappointing, especially since this place came highly recommended by so many people.

Yesterday we were in the city of Richmond and decided to try this restaurant based off google reviews! After completing our meal my daughter who was sitting at the end of the table in a high chair pointed out that a mouse was under our bench! We called the waitress over and let her know the first thing she said was “LETS GO AHEAD AND CLEAR THE CHECKS” so me and my friend who is currently gagging at this moment look at each other and then asked for a manager! She walks off for a brief second then comes back and say “My manager will be out here to pick it up” He/She never came out! Without causing any commotion we paid and went to the front! I let the other waitress and waiter know that we saw a mouse under our seat and I don’t believe the girl ever told the manager about it! They were totally freaked out and way more sincere and apologetic for the mishap!! Its crazy we still had to pay for our food with no type of accommodation or a sincere apology from the manager! I will never eat here again and Im also contacting the health department soon as they open!! I am super sick to my stomach to even had this experience from them!!

Awesome service and pretty good food. Our waitress was super attentive. They don't serve chocolate milk, but she kindly made one for our table. Super kind of her! I was told I needed to order the Red Velvet Waffles, so of course I obliged. I know they are known for this dish and they were stunning to look at, but the traditional red velvet flavor wasn't incredibly strong. It was a good waffle. The pecan cream cheese was the real highlight of the dish. It was incredible! We also ordered the TOA omelette, half an order of french toast, biscuit, and scrambled eggs. The TOA omelette was packed with tomato, onions, and cheese. It was topped with a generous amount of avocado! The seasoned potatoes at Lulu's are incredible. They are heavy on the spice (which I believe to be cumin, chili powder, onion powder, S&P), but pair well with the mildness of eggs. The biscuit was like a huge pillow! Awesome biscuit! French toast was well-made and came with the same delightful accompaniments as the waffles, which made it better. All-in-all it was a solid brunch, well priced, with generous portions. I enjoyed the atmosphere too.

2 visit Review: visit 1 This place is always packed so I was expecting AMAZING. The food was good, but not spectacular. The service was good as well. The chicken and waffles was tasty, but very spicy....like hot sauce spicy. That wasn't indicated on the menu. The potatoes were also very spicy and the sausage gravy was also spicy. Lots of spice.. so if you don't dig that sort of thing it may turn you off. They also add the gratuity. We have a family of six, I am not sure if that standard or because they assumed we need multiple tickets, which we didn't. 2nd visit: well my final verdict is the food is oK. Not spectacular, not terrible, just average. The french toast taste like bread and milk not flavourful. The shrimp and grits was an average portion the busict was NOT worth 2.50 extra. The visit also was a little tough it wasn't the typical buttermilk biscuit. The mimosa was strong. The corn beef hash was chucks of corn beef and potatoes. I was looking for a little more but it was just ok. The asparagus was delicious and I don't even like asparagus. The service was great

HIP AMBIANCE, DELICIOUS FOOD AND TASTY COCKTAILS!!! We were visiting Richmond and found this interesting place to indulge in Brunch. We had to wait for 40 minutes to get the table but boy it was worth the wait. The place was full and little loud and the music was even louder. The decor was little weird. Our waitress was very hospitable and took our drinks orders very quickly. We ordered Jalapeño Bloody Mary, Bacon Bloody Mary, Tropical Mimosa, moscow mules. I have never seen such a creative cocktail menu for brunch. All the drinks were delicious and beautiful. As for the food, we ordered Chorizo Frittata, Huevos Rancheros, Red Velvet Waffle, hrimp & Stone-Milled Pimento Grits. Everything were presented beautifully and I cannot stress enough how awesome the red velvet waffles were. The pecan cream that accompnied the waffle was very rich and fluffy. The house potatoes that accompnied the other savory dishes were the best I have ever had. This definitely my favorite brunch spot and I would go there again to try all the other dishes on their menu.
