Located along the James River in downtown Richmond Virginia. The Canal Walk is surrounded by beautiful views of the James River and the city. Two islands are accessible from the Canal Walk. Brown's Island and Belle Isle. Brown's Island is grass and sidewalk covered and great for public outdoor events and concerts. Belle Isle is tree covered, surrounded by large boulders, with the James River flowing around and over the rocky terrain that encircles it. Read moreI went with my wife and we saw the art work along the hydroelectric portion, we parked close to 1200 E Byrd St. We parked along the fence, which is much cheaper at $2/hr, 4 hours max. The area is not wheelchair friendly. Some of the slopes/ramps are very steep, titled, not clean and have large gaps/drop offs. Portions are closed off for construction which makes it difficult to navigate if you are not on foot. We will try to navigate additional areas and see if they are more...
