This place is a true treasure in the heart of Richmond, VA for anyone who appreciates the beauty and creativity of handcrafted pottery. I had the pleasure of stopping by during October while sightseeing around town, and it was an unforgettable experience. The gallery showcases an incredible variety of ceramic works crafted by a talented collective of local artists, each piece exuding its own unique charm and character. One of the highlights was witnessing two artists working in their studios during my visit. It was fascinating to watch their creative process up close, as they skillfully shaped clay into stunning works of art. The workspace also includes thoughtful descriptions of their pieces, allowing visitors to connect with the stories and inspirations behind the artwork. This added layer of context made the experience even more meaningful and engaging. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, thanks to the welcoming staff. Their passion for the art and dedication to showcasing local talent truly shine through. Whether you're an art enthusiast or just looking for a unique gift, this studio offers something for everyone. Thank you for creating such a vibrant space that celebrates artistry and craftsmanship. It’s a wonderful addition to Richmond's cultural scene, and I can’t wait to visit again!

Absolutely loved visiting Shockoe Bottom Clay❣ Pictured are 2 artists who spent time with me and my son's family showing us their wonderful clay art and telling us a bit about themselves and about their love of the craft. We spent quite awhile exploring the entire inventory. The treasures I bought are pictured. I can hardly wait to visit again!

If you get a chance to visit you should. Has some of the most talented artisans I have seen in a while. If you are looking for a beautiful unique piece for your home, office or gift for a friend this is your place. They said that they are usually only open on the weekend, you might get lucky and find them open during the week.

I honestly feel like I died and went to heaven! The diverse collection of well crafted ceramics is perhaps the best I've ever seen in one stunningly beautiful space. The work on the shelves and hanging on the walls and ceiling sparkled in the sun-drenched shop and ceramic studio space. Natural wood floors and furnishings provide a beautiful backdrop for functional, traditional, and contemporary ceramics made by local resident artists and friends. I could have easily gifted everyone I know with something special and will have a hard time letting go of what I purchased. The next time I'm visiting Richmond, this will be my first stop. I highly recommend a visit to Shockoe Bottom Clay. You will not be disappointed! Oh, and did I mention how generous and kind the owners and residents are? And added plus! Extraordinary talent and...

This is such a unique and inviting art space - prices range for various pieces of work but always seem reasonable for what you're getting. The staff sat and talked with us for some time about their mission and goals. I loved that. It was also nice to find out that one of the employees is a recent grad of VCU's craft program. Investing in young artists is so important.

Additionally, the ability to walk through artist's studios while shopping their wares provides and thorough and...
