The Canal Club — Local services in Richmond

Super awesome, intimate venue. Such a cool vibe - from the parking area under the overpasses, to when you walk in the door into the perfectly lit, loungey atmosphere of the club itself. Although I didn't have any personally, food was served during the show and it smelled delicious. Seemed to be the typical sort of chicken tender basket, bar food menu. Nothing wrong with that! All of the staff I encountered were very friendly. Bartenders were slammed busy but kept up a great pace and great attitudes, even for us water drinkers! Sound and lights were on point as well. I feel like one of the sound engineers plays guitar cause they sounded incredible all night for every band! Nothing muddled. Very nice!

Having lived in the area for so long and being a metal fan, I'm surprised this was my first visit to the infamous Canal Club of RVA. It certainly will not be my last!

I forgot to post this review sooner! I was there on 4/20/2022 to see the bands Ashland and Rivals. I had no idea what to expect because I was coming from NC and I am disabled & was using my walker. But it turned out great!! The staff was super helpful about getting me and my walker up the 3 steps into the venue. I did not see the 2nd floor but the first floor is very nice. It's a small venue where you can get right up to the stage which I find really cool. Although the bartender made this awesome drink for me & even remembered when I'd come up it was a tad too expensive. Every member of the staff was very helpful and actually seemed happy to help which is rare. FYI the crowd was small at my show, so I don't know what it's like when it's packed. Definitely recommend & even if you use assistive devices they will be happy to help or there is a way around back...

I went to a intimate concert here to see Jade Novah, Jared Brady, and Dondria. It was such a fun night, and I enjoyed being so close to the stage. The only downside is you had to stand for a couple hours. The only tables were on the side of the room but they were too far to see once everyone stood in front of the stage. My feet and back were killing me by the time it was all over lol. We had VIP tickets and got a do a meet & Greet with Jade Novah. We were sad to find that didnt include a photo op with Jared, but my daughter went up to him and got one anyway. He was super nice and happy to take a pic with her.
