We have lived in the Fan area for several years and probably because we passed by at the opposite time when the store was open, I decided to get something for my husband and myself and I was really surprised. We never bought anything there or sat because it is always crowded, now we took Breakfast Bahn Mi, Glumper, Rugelach and a few bagels for later, with 2 low fat chocolate milk, which made me happy, because we both love it. Fresh, crispy, delicious breakfast, maybe the prices are a little high for an average salary, but it's really worth it. The staff is at least for me it was polite, professional and fast, honestly there were a lot of people when I entered but my order went easily and I think I waited less than 5 minutes, everything was great for me but next time my husband will choose because he is an American knows more, and I'm always happy to try his choices in everything. I am European woman and I must admit that I really liked it, the fresh ones are very tasty and everything is great, we will come again, just a 5-minute walk away from us, even though today is Saturday, I waited only few minutes, I was delighted, we will definitely come again, thank you very much . I also liked the outside seating area, and it has everything you need. What I also liked is that it has a kind of casual casual atmosphere. Everything is nicely laid out and clear. Thank you once again. This reminds me of home in Europe. I only took two pictures because they were very crowded, but next time, I will definitely take more pictures next time 🌼

Nate’s Bagels is clearly a hot spot in Richmond—and for good reason. We showed up on a weekday morning, and the line was nearly out the door. The place was very busy, with what looked like 50+ bag orders stacked on the counter, but the staff kept things moving smoothly and efficiently. Despite the crowd, we didn’t wait long at all for our food, which was a pleasant surprise given how popular the place is. We ordered the Lox bagel, and it did not disappoint. It was generously loaded with lox, and every bite was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. While the bagel doesn’t come warm (something to keep in mind), the quality of the ingredients made up for it. It felt like a great value and exactly what you’d hope for from a bagel shop with this kind of reputation. We also tried “The Virginny,” which turned out to be the sleeper hit of the visit. It came with egg, sausage, and tomato jam—and wow. The tomato jam added a sweet but savory twist that tied everything together perfectly. It was unique, well-balanced, and absolutely delicious. One thing to note: parking is tough. There’s no lot—just street parking in a busy area, so plan ahead or be ready to circle the block a bit. Overall, Nate’s Bagels lives up to the hype. Great food, fast service despite the crowds, and a creative menu that makes it worth the wait. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

New Yorker here—and I’m not impressed. First off, I’ve never been to a bagel shop that doesn’t toast bagels. Like… “?????” What do you mean you don’t toast? It’s not morning, rather 2 in the afternoon. So yes I would love it cold, yum 😒 Oh wait, never mind, they do toast the pizza bagels, but nothing else. Hmm okay. Also, I’m a lover of lox cream cheese and buy it any chance I get , and let me tell you, I had to go on a spiritual journey just to locate the smoked salmon in this so-called lox cream cheese. Granted, it was labeled “lox and dill,” but it was more like “dill with a side of disappointment.” Heavy on the dill, light on the actual seafood protein situation. My standard for lox cream cheese is that it should be so riddled with salmon goodness that it takes on a lovely pink hue. This? This was just… white sadness with dill freckles. So yeah, after spending $7.50 on a tub of what should just be renamed “herb cream cheese,” I walked out completely disappointed. Is it a good bagel? Well, yeah. Is it comparable to Einstein Bros or Panera? Definitely. Will I go back? Lol—let’s not be ridiculous.

It's the only and BEST bagel place in Richmond. Nate's has created what I like to call Richmond Style Bagels. They are not like New York or Philly or anywhere else you get bagels. They are distinct and fabulous. The sandwich options here are phenomenal!!! First off, if you want your classic choice the classic breakfast (bacon egg and cheese) SO GOOD. I swear they should sell the bacon by itself it's like eating MAGIC. Also I LOVE that everything is MADE TO ORDER! A lot of bagel places just microwave their eggs, but not here. The egg is FRESH and you can tell everything is just made right there in the magical land of Nate's bagels. YES IT'S MAGICAL. Okay second, The Old Virginny, I don't even UNDERSTAND WHY IT'S SO DELICIOUS. The combination of things, is something I could literally not imagine together. Nate is a genius and I have told him this myself. That's another thing I love, is that Nate is in store hanging out in his bagel kingdom. Okay if you've kept reading I've got one more sandwich I love and then some tips. If you get a bagel with lox, THEY DON'T SKIMP!! I legit HATE when bagel places give you like two pieces of lox, but Nate's piles on the goods. AND I feel the price for lox is so not unreasonable. Here are my tips! They get CRAZY busy on the weekends, so if you're going to go CALL AHEAD! That will help immensely. Also great bagels take time, so wait. I promise it's worth it. If you don't want to wait call ahead. Also parking is tricky but doable. This is a true GEM of Richmond. They sell out sometimes. Just go early right when they open for the best of the best. I love them and they will have my business FOR LIFE. Go try everything. The rugelah is SO GOOD. So many goodies they do here. The coffee is great too, both the cold brew and nitro are incredible. Okay I'm done, I love you Nate and all of...

Nate's bagels are really good and tasty. The online ordering mechanism during COVID-19 is fantastic. But ...

... waiting to receive the bagel, is really not worth the wait. It would have honestly been faster for me to have gone to a grocery store, bought the bagel and the ingredients, and made the bagel myself, before I received it from Nate's.

I have ordered online twice - once on a weekday and another on a weekend - and both times I have waited between 20-30 minutes past the time they were due. There have been multiple people like me who were waiting in line for over 20 minutes telling the staff that they have been waiting for long.

While I waited, other people whose order #s were ahead of mine received their bagels earlier. My orders was quite simple. It was very frustrating to wait and wait and wait. No apologies from them for waiting. It felt like they didn't really care.

I don't blame the staff for the wait. They were hustling. Their workflow and process seems to be ridiculous, so it is likely something else that the staff cannot control. I just hope they get it figured out.

I will not be shopping at Nate's again when I need food under 30 minutes. I was HUNGRY before I got to Nates. Waiting 20 minutes after my order was processed to pick up, and then showing up at Nate's and waiting in line for 20-30 post pick up-time, made me HANGRY. :-(

If you want relatively timely delivery go elsewhere. If you can wait 50 minutes to an hour for your bagel, then I recommend Nate's. The food is good, but not...
