Where to begin? We had gone to Sidewalk Cafe a few blocks away, but they were on a very long wait. We called District 5 and they said there was no wait for a party of 8, that should have been the first red flag. When we arrived the 4 men in our group were patted down for weapons, no explanation was given for this, despite our obvious surprise. None of the women were searched, not even their bags. We were allowed in after the pat down, despite all 4 of us having pocket knives on us that were not discovered, or ignored during the search. The place is big, with high ceilings, lots of windows, and dozens of tap handles behind the bar. Once seated we started looking at the menu and discussing our choices, but soon after we were greeted we were informed that they were only doing appetizers and the brunch menu. Our server was nice, but it was clear the kitchen was not making her job easy. We started receiving our food staggered, with several minutes between item arriving at the table, and a few items missing. The portion sizes were large, but not cooked well. All the dishes that had poached eggs were served overcooked, as well as the over easy eggs. That part was super disappointing. Some items were very dry as well, like the brisket Mac and cheese. Sadly we won't be returning to District 5. Hopefully they can get the help they need in the kitchen. Keep in mind the restaurant was only at about...
Read moreOne star due to the racist bouncers. I am grown.. and don't go out much. I came out of the restroom and i guess my pants were hanging too low for the bouncers liking.. no major sagging as that feels awkward when walking. I wear a belt. He approached me VERY angrily demanding that i pull my pants up. My immediate response was "man pulling my pants up is not a problem but why are you being so aggressive and angry" He proceeded to tell me there was no need for talk back.. lol My mind was BLOWN. Did i just two drink myself back into 1600s? I CALMLY told him that it wasn't about my pants and he has some other issues he needs to take care of & i walked off pulling my pants up a couple inches. He then followed me across the bar and said "THAT'S IT YOU'RE OUT" i was shocked again .. i have never in my life been kicked out of a bar. lol I proceeded to be escorted out and another bouncer started to push me out while less than 10ft from the door. I told that man "hey you don't have to beg me to spend my money here".. he had NO reason to put his hands on me as i was very cooperative. Never spending my money there again. My black ppl AVOID this place if you can. The bar tenders are great though. I've been to this place 5 times or more even when it was the martini bar. I have a lot of friends that go here so when we are out i will try my best to...
Read moreWent to District 5 for a Halloween event. I was waiting for a friend outside of the bathroom when a female employee (Clara Trivett) walks out and decides to step on my feet and push me out of the way - apparently she had the right to be disrespectful because she has worked here for a very long time and knew she would face no consequence, When confronting her about being rude, she decides to get security because she "doesn't like us and we were being rude to her as an employee." She was drunk and off the clock and I know this was all based upon the race of my skin by the comments she said to me. At this point, my friends and I have separated. She finds security - points to 5 random black girls (some I did not even come with) and says "they were harassing me ...I want them all out." Now this woman has harassed us, racially profiled us, and then has the nerve to cry wolf. I tried to speak with management and he had not a care in the world. I'm so sick of thing like this happening to me and District 5 is a NOT a good place for people of color. If you look more into the reviews, there are numerous instances of customers being met with racism. Save your time and energy and go...
